I just watched Dragged Across Concrete and holy fuck what a film. What a slowburner of an intense and raw thriller. Really intense but also cold and takes its time. At parts extremely violent and bloody without being cinematic or gratuitous about it. It feels real and raw. Barely any music. Wow. I'm blown away. I knew nothing about this film. Didn't see a trailer, didn't read about online, didn't hear people talk about it. Just thought oh neat a long thriller with Mel Gibson. Only afterwards did I find out that the guy who wrote and directed this also wrote and directed Bone Tomahawk. Another fantastic film.
Watch this film. Now. I haven't seen the trailer but that's always a plus. Don't watch the trailer. No idea what it reveals. Just watch the film. If you don't mind a slow burning, hard thriller that honestly keeps you on the edge of your seat and that stars Mel Gibson then watch this right now. I can't believe I didn't hear about this sooner. I also can't believe that the film didn't get far better reviews, though I guess that's because many people don't like Mel Gibson. Though he's great in the film. And also don't expect tradional action with explosions and stuff. There's shooting, but no pew pew kind of shooting if you know what I mean. It's really rough and brutal.
If you've seen it let's talk. How did you like it? But don't spoil details for others.
I haven't seen this yet but I watched Blood Father a few days ago and it wasn't that good but Mel Gibson was great in it. I feel fucking robbed from not getting to see him in other movies this whole time.
Michael Clark
Loved the movie too, but some scenes are very edgy and unnecessary, like that mom with the baby
anyway, how much money the nigger got from the bag? How much money gold bars are worth?
Elijah Robinson
Great movie and one of the very few I've actually wanted to see in recent years. We had a number of good threads 1-2 weeks back when it came out but since too many retards spam the board with capeshit and star wars threads discussion's kinda died off. Have you seen Brawl in Cell Block 99 yet? It's Zahlers other directing credit and while, imo not as good as the other two, is a fine movie. Somebody worked it out in a previous thread maybe a week ago, it wasn't as much as you might expect.
Hudson Torres
They were 5 oz gold bullions so each is worth somewhere around $7k. His wife got around 50 or 60 bullions at the end. At least that's my estimate looking at the size of the box and how they were stacked. All of them combined split over 4 bags definitely several hundred bullions. Realistically I'd say the total value was between 3 and 6 million. But that's just some guess work on my part. Maybe there were more and the total is around 10 million or even more. No idea.
Brandon Bennett
It wasn't that good and you are a marketer promoting the movie.
Joseph Morris
The trailer actually shows off pretty much nothing about the plot besides some lines that don't cohere with what is going on and some cool shots, so anybody who sees the trailer won't know much more than people who haven't seen the trailer, also the movie itself is really, really good and I hope more people see because it really deserves more recognition.
Charles Martinez
>Have you seen Brawl in Cell Block 99 yet? No I haven't but I'll try to watch it this week.
>some scenes are very edgy and unnecessary, like that mom with the baby I actually really liked that. My gf didn't like the movie at all and said it's boring like Hateful 8. She isn't one for slow burners and needs more action... What I liked about that mom with baby part is that it left me clueless about how things would proceed. I had no idea who she was in regards to the plot. Part of the plan? An accomplice? An unfortunate victim? Is the backstory relevant? It prevented me from guessing ahead. I liked how they gave some random character that gets killed a bit of a backstory and life. Made it feel more human and personal. Adds more tragic and shock when the violent eventually unfolds.

Kept thinking about it. Definitely more. The bags were pretty heavy. Overall probably around 20-25 million dollars worth.
Nolan Stewart
>Made it feel more human and personal. Adds more tragic and shock when the violent eventually unfolds. That's exactly it. The violence in that scene might have been brief and nowhere near the explicit nature of Bone and Brawl but I found it to have more impact due to the slow and uncertain buildup. I think that scene was also a comment on the emotional difficulty that mothers can experience when separated from their baby due to modern work commitments. Or maybe it was just Zahler trying to fuck with your head and shock you.
Ending was dumb, should’ve ended with Mel Gibson telling the black guy hey one more thing, and then lifting up his shirt to reveal an undisclosed gunshot wound
Luke Phillips
Can I find this online now?
Henry Morgan
It sucked. Who the fuck doesn't have 6 weeks emergency pay saved up. Also when that one guy's wife got the gold bars why was she relieved? HOw would a dumb multiple sclerosis biatch find someone to sell it to ?
Landon Howard
>Who the fuck doesn't have 6 weeks emergency pay saved up 63% of Americans
Mel was trying to get his family away from violent niggers the whole movie and he ends up being killed by one. Nobody was dragged across concrete. it's a soft 7.
Sebastian Nguyen
For the last two points it is very questionable and all I can answer is 'because it's a movie'. The first though, have you not seen all those articles about so many Americans living paycheck to paycheck? It's an entirely reasonable plot point.
Saying it sucked for those 2 reasons is just daft though. So many other movies have movies have silly plot holes in a realistic sense but are still good movies. Multiple corpses were dragged across concrete in the later parts of the movie, as mas Micheal J White before he was cut open. I don't think it refers to that though, as the scene with Don Johnson has him say to Gibson that 'he's been scuffing concrete too long', referring to his long career as a cop which has made him bitter.
Lucas Thomas
Black wish fulfillment fantasies, the movie. Black guy heroic and strong (if emotionless, plot-armored, and unlikeable). White guys sociopathic scum. This is literally a rap music video, except that it's three hours long, wangled top stars, and isn't blaring rap. Do not waste any time on this SJW propaganda trash -- and speaking of time, it's nearly three fucking hours long.
Owen Kelly
Have you ever wanted a movie that shows all the nothing that typically happens in a real police stakeout?
Jaxon Peterson
Have you ever wanted a movie that took characters who mumbled their lines, then put them behind masks with no mouth holes?
Kayden Sanchez
You guys got burned by a secret blaxploitation movie. The whole soundtrack is done by The O'Jays for petes sake.
Zachary Richardson
Yeah I recommended this film to my black boss and he looked at me like I just told him to check out Birth of a Nation.
Isaiah Hill
It’s too long given the story they’re telling. This easily could have been 2 hours
It wants to pretend it is gritty realism but in reality the quote unquote “racist” cops are incredibly tame compared to what real world blue collar racists would say
The villains are one dimensional cardboard literally faceless cutouts
The ending doesn’t make a lick of sense (why is Mel Gibson concerned about being blackmailed if he will immediately retire with his money)
The violence is also surprisingly tepid given the marketing
Mel and Vince did a good job though with what they were given, and I like the faux Motown tracks
Ethan Sanders
>that editing

SHOTGUN SAFARI SHOTGUN SAFARI

>The ending doesn’t make a lick of sense (why is Mel Gibson concerned about being blackmailed if he will immediately retire with his money) you're right. why would someone retired not want video footage of him killing a bunch of people released.
Anthony Lopez
Kino women just will literally never be able to comprehend
David Smith
>Park Chan-Wook >Zahler Okay I'm excited.
Elijah Torres
>implying in this scenario with this amount of money he couldn’t easily flee the country and/or also incriminate the guy releasing the video
Ryder Gomez
Its good, had a Way of The Gun feel to it. Overall better than brawl on cellblock 99 and tomahawk.
James Barnes
The black guy ending was laughable. Like nigga what is the IRS? You think that you gonna go from poor to millionaire overnight and government isnt gonna look into you.
Liam Fisher
I liked it and it's definitely worth watching but it was kind of too long for what it was. I was surprised to see the stakeout move straight on to the final confrontation. I expected something more conventional because the gritty world and atmosphere was set up so well at the start. But it didn't sputter out like some slightly artsy films do.
Carson Fisher
I think it was implied they weren’t in the US anymore
Logan Brown
>Nigger! >Likewise. Seeing this in a film festival was such a treat. Almost the whole audience were clearly familiar with Zahler and Gibson and the reactions to some moments were amazing.
Noah Wright
I agree for the most part. The marketing and title made me believe it was going to be much more violent, assumed that Mel and Vince were going to play unhinged cops who upon getting suspended go around fucking up criminals for cash. Definitely a step down from the over the top violence of Bone Tomahawk and BICB99.
