I think back when he debuted in Avengers, that came off as charming and being part of his character, especially when the rest of the main cast had a LOT of energy. Characters like Thor, Tony and Cap were always at 11 with their bombastic/sarcastic/heroic routine, and then Ruffalo comes in playing Banner like a normal schlub. It was somewhat endearing. 7 years later, it's pretty apparent that he really doesn't give a fuck about playing Hulk and probably can't wait to be done, so he's slid from being low-key to just phoning it in. The paycheck clears, either way.

You Can Count on Me is one of my favorite films.

he's good in Zodiac, Shutter Island and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind off the top of my head. capeshit is utter garbage and he knows that people will eat this shit up no matter how corny he acts, these movies are just paychecks to everyone in Hollywood, they know it's just a joke.

I just remember him grimacing and sighing out his lines in Shutter Island. It wasnt bad but hes just kind of there.

He does not seem remotely invested and it is difficult to buy him as a character rather than just an actor, he has done the same role for multiple films and it's clear he lacks a desire to invest.
