The original chronology of the parts is as follows:
{7} > 1 > 2 > 3 > ( 4 > 5 ) > 6 > {8}

The core gist of the original story line is 1 > 2 > 3 > 6 called the Dio arc. They are the most essential parts, although they can be read out of order as 3 > 6 > 1 > 2, with 3 > 6 being the main action of the arc and 1 > 2 being a backstory.

The parts inside of the parentheses (4 > 5) are the non-canon filler parts called the Arrow arc, which is a continuation of the story branching off from 3 but doesn't really have much connection to the overall plot so they can be skipped.

The parts inside of the brackets {7} and {8} are parts that retcon previous entries of the story. 7 is a prequel to the entire series but retcons the entirety of parts 1 through 6 and makes it inconsistent with the original chronology. 8 also follows suit. Because of how inconsistent it is with the timeline, it is considered an optional reading after reading the Dio arc.

The anime is currently at Part 5 but I recommend you watch the anime in conjunction with the manga in the order given.:
1 > 2 > 3 > 6 or 3 > 6 > 1 > 2 with 7 > 8 being an optional further reading and 4 > 5 being an even further optional reading if you're interested.

This is pasta and I'm a newfag for not knowing it by now, right?

this unironically

part 7 is in a different continuity entirely putting it before 1 is stupid

No, this is 100% Araki's words you dipshit newfag

The first two seasons with Jonathan and Joseph Joestar are good but everything after in my opinion is trash with Jotaro on. The stands were such a stupid thing to make everybody have and they should have kept Hamon.
Some moments in the second season with Joseph are legitimate kino.

7 Takes place before 1

In the trash

Stands felt kinda shit in Part 3, but that's just because Past 3 dragged on for far too long.

Part 4 is unironically the best part.

In reply to OP, start from the beginning. The plot of Part 1 may seem kinda dated, but Dio is too much of an entertaining antagonist.

episode 1

sauce

>it's not gay, its just manly
Literally no Jojo fan says this, its gay as fuck but in a gachimuchi sort of way

seething moeturd

Based user directing people away from the best parts.

it;s a different universe entirely

> There will never be a character as loyal and trustworthy as Robert EO Speedwagon

It hurts, bros

The whole lot of you fags

You get through the slow, but good worldbuilding part 1, then if you aren't on board by the end of the first episode of Part 2, you should end your life. It only gets better.

Read the author's notes

dumb jojotard

ok retard

It still takes place before 1

7 is the original universe while 1 is a branch. Thats why Spin is less powerful than Hamon

Battle Tendency is the best part. Don't (you) me!

spbp

REMINDER

Steel Ball Run > Diamond is Unbreakable > Vento Aureo > Jojolion > Battle Tendency > Stone Ocean > Stardust Crusaders > Phantom Blood

Joseph > Josuke > Johnny > Gappy > Jotaro > Jolyene > Jonathan > Gio

Yoshikage Kira > Funny Valentine > Diavolo > Dio > Kars

Gyro > Polnareff > Yoshua > Ceasar > Koichi > Bucciarti > Speedwagon > Ermes

Crazy Diamond > Star Platinum > Soft & Wet > Tusk > Stone Free > Gold Experience

D4C > Killer Queen > King Crimson > The World > White Snake

Do people really like hamon that much? Sometimes stands can be convoluted but they have much more opportunity for variety. I feel like an 8 part series with just hamon would be unreadably boring.

The start of part 2 seriously has one of the most kino fights in the entire series

youtube.com/watch?v=z0gljFf98ds

I'll (you) you just to agree with you

Part 1
Is revenge kino 5/5 think Dallas meets Berserker.
Part 2 Stardust Crusaders
Introduces stands which seem stupid at first like they made them just so they could sell card/figure merch, but you get used to them eventually you like them.
It's a bit of a slow roll, but most episodes are entertaining and the characters arcs are good.
The battles and action are okay but outsmarting your opponent by pulling a rabbit out your arse can be overused especially in part 3. 3.5/5
Part 3 Battle In Egypt
Is a little shorter I would suggest not bingeing part 2 and part 3 in one or two sittings it feels like they stretch it out more than they needed and you see that with the shit filler.
3/5
Part 4 Diamond is Unbreakable
Is much more grounded and relaxed you are in a small Japanese town and the characters are high school teenagers.
Usual stand/high school/teenager/murder mystery shenanigans and good characters and development also the art style improves imo 4/5
Part 5 Golden Wind
Not finished but so far I like it everyone looks like they could be a trap though. It set in italy and it's about gangster stand users.

>a series with numbered parts
>where do I start?
Start by killing yourself and read the manga.

begone degenerate drawfag and take your satan trips with you
Yea Forums is a catholic board

Read the manga. read parts in this order: 1 (sucks but short and necessary), 5 (now you can watch the anime starting at any part and watch the current season coming out), 3, 4, 6, 2, 7, 8.

Checked.
Also, you will never achieve who you want to be if you keep tripfagging, Satan.

>dio doing the floss dance

In order.
People like to shit on Phantom Blood because Jonathan is boring or some shit but he is really important because he starts a legacy of heroes and Jonathan is a heroes' hero.
Even George who was a shitter who apparently died for nothing fought a plant that could've doomed his entire division in the middle of WWI.
