Any recommendations?
I can't find any good movies on this shitty streaming service
Other urls found in this thread:

Armageddon
I watched The Vanishing the other night and it was really good.
I know there's some shitty meme films like Armageddon and Tiny Furniture, but you really have to appreciate what this company has done for film. It's similar relationship to what Blue Note did for jazz music.
>The Vanishing
5.8 on imdb
i already watched that. it was so boring
Get the fuck off this board you stupid nigger
he is right though, its just pretentious Lynch shit with some lesbo action and a scary dumpster goblin.
That's the girl.
The lesbian scenes aren't even the hottest part of the movie.
criterion is more like the brown note
>pretentious Lynch shit
He's unironically one of least pretentious filmmakers in history
>Sorry, this video cannot be played while your device is connected to this external monitor
La balance, Cure, and The Demon are three you should watch.
cassavetes or max ophuls
Night Train to Munich
To Be or Not To Be
I can't recommend The Earrings of Madame de... enough.
Did any of you watch that movie Wanda that was one of the weekly features before they launched the full site? That was a truly horrible film in almost every way and I can't believe Criterion restored that shit
thought it was decent once you get past the first ten or so minutes.
This could be the most kino scene ever
it was appallingly amateur. the description talked about how it was supposedly a huge influence on some style of moviemaking but it was just bad art
is every Criterion film on there?
Fellini Satyricon is a weird ass movie
nope
How about you start by telling us some movies you like. You won't though because then you can't bait.
>is every one on there?
no, they are missing some big ones, hopefully soon
Not all of them, but they've got over 1,500.
All shitters though. Literally nothing on my watchlist is on there. Filmstruck had everything.
Chungking Express
>looking at the comedies
>a Safdie movie comes up
>John lives his life alone trying to connect with anything or anyone he can. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between hysterical crying and hysterical laughter.
gonna avoid that one
wtf when did they put ACO on criterion channel?
Is Criterion truly the McDonald's of arthouse cinema?
Classic bantz
oops wrong thread
>Filmstruck
Too soon. I still miss it. I used Kanopy to help get me through it, but it's not the same. Fuck man, it was too good a service for this pleb world.
Why are there no funny movies? Is high brow cinema really meant to be non funny
It's more like a starter pack, you can see basic stuff without a lot of hassle. IMHO Criterion is only really good for 50s and earlier.
Watch The Beatles A Hard Day's Night
It's on criterion streaming
i dont think criterion claims to be an arthouse company
People only like this shit movie because its The Beatles. If it was anyone else this would be a 2/10
What's the In-N-Out of arthouse cinema? Kino Lorber? Arrow?
Netflix is better
There's plenty of comedies. City Lights, Playtime.
...
im gonna watch Weekend
Actually going to an arthouse theater
going to a film festival. it's both enlightened and pleb at the same time.
Yeah but you can't buy physical copies at an arthouse theater
>buying physical copies
true arthouse is experienced in a fleeting moment, when a film print is projected for an audience of 5 people or less, then the print is burned and all that is left is the fleeting memory of kino.
I prefer when they slaughter the audience after the burning of the film. That way nobody can speak of it’s greatness either
Sweet Movie
in-n-out is fucking awful
