The original chronology of the parts is as follows:
{7} > 1 > 2 > 3 > ( 4 > 5 ) > 6 > {8}

The core gist of the original story line is 1 > 2 > 3 > 6 called the Dio arc. They are the most essential parts, although they can be read out of order as 3 > 6 > 1 > 2, with 3 > 6 being the main action of the arc and 1 > 2 being a backstory.

The parts inside of the parentheses (4 > 5) are the non-canon filler parts called the Arrow arc, which is a continuation of the story branching off from 3 but doesn't really have much connection to the overall plot so they can be skipped.

The parts inside of the brackets {7} and {8} are parts that retcon previous entries of the story. 7 is a prequel to the entire series but retcons the entirety of parts 1 through 6 and makes it inconsistent with the original chronology. 8 also follows suit. Because of how inconsistent it is with the timeline, it is considered an optional reading after reading the Dio arc.

The anime is currently at Part 5 but I recommend you watch the anime in conjunction with the manga in the order given.:
3 > 6 > 1 > 2 or 1 > 2 > 3 > 6 with 7 > 8 being an optional further reading and 4 > 5 being an even further optional reading if you're interested.

Well Dio vs Diavolo is VERY different than The World vs King Crimson. Since Dio is a vampire and has tons of vampire BS, even if Diavolo lands some good hits Dio may still be alive.

I'd give it to Dio just cause The World beat Tusk Act 4, and is probably in the top 3 strongest stands. King Crimson works best as a surprise attack rather than a straight on fight.

Part 3 had so many great fights and they were all so much more satisfying than any fight in Part 5 so far. Watching Jotaro finally get his hands on Steely Dan and punching him for like two minutes straight was better than anything Giorno has pulled off yet.

So if Mista shot the bullet at Diavolo, having thrown his bullets behind him beforehand [Mista doesn't have a Stand, he is just talking to his bullets], then the bullet would ricochet as it missed behind Diavolo and shot Diavolo 10 seconds later.

Don't get me wrong, I respect Araki's vision but there was something so visceral about early stand battles and Part 4 IMO hit the sweet spot of tactics and combat prowess. I'm not gonna lie, there were some definite asspulls in the earlier parts too but it felt like it rolled both ways for the heroes and villains.

Araki's forgetfulness is vastly exaggerated by normalfags who saw the "Araki forgot" -memes and thought that they mean nothing in the series has any consistency or planning at all. The problem with part 5 is most of the stands are TOO simple or so complex they make no sense. specially enemy stands. Which is why it turns into 4D-thinking weird nonsense and asspulls.
Giorno can create life. It's as simple as that. there are no set limits to it (like how Josuke couldnt heal itself, or Star Platinum/The World couldnt freeze time for more than just a tiny bit)
So he can asspull pretty much whatever the plot needs because 'muh resolve'

I agree that Giorno's stand is also the problem. The only way to challenge a stand that busted would be to make even more on-paper busted stands. Every stand up to this point had limitations. I think at one point particularly in the White Album fight he was trying to put limitations on Gold Experience but then he just kind of gave up on it because it's much better for him to keep it vague and busted.

I do agree and was very close to putting Johnny first. The only thing that switched my mind in the end, is that Joseph has you invested in him as an MC from the very first chapter effectively. And he gets better and better as the part progresses (as do all MCs). Johnny, though better developed - and ultimately much more compelling - still suffers ultimately from being a slightly slower burn. Joseph is a blazing fucking fire.

the whole premise is typical only instead of hiding they straight up tell you the fact that the main character is the strongest character in the show. the only way they manage to build tension is by knocking out the main character for a few episodes, but you know he will wake up at the last episode so it's basically pointless. also they show thousands of buildings being demolished but zero deaths. it's fucking shit. the only good character arc was reigen. the side characters might be interesting if they stayed on the screen for longer than 60 seconds.

since the openings change during the final fights against each antagonist to reflect their powers, will part 5 just skip past the opening for the final episode? Also anyone else notice how each antagonist's stand manipulates time? (dio stops time, Kira resets time, Diavolo skips time, Pucci speeds up time)

It feels rushed. Or it's like each episode isn't really a self contained episode so some episodes are really shit and a couple are okay. It feels like it was written by some dumbass for as a webcomic or something. It just needs more. All we get are plot, but it's not interesting enough to carry the show.

Bruno is pretty much the real MC of Golden wind. Makes me think if Araki left him dead and let Gio take on more responsibility as leader of the gang that it would have given him more personality.

it was the first season of this anime i discovered and was amazed by interesting characters, humor etc, i watched several episodes and then i realized that i was watching 4th season and decided to see the first one, it was a headache. I waited with patience the time when fun should start, but it never did.

However it has been a cult classic in Japan for decades and influenced a metric fuckton of media and even if you haven't watched it, you're at least aware of it.
