D&D are great writers

Only the north is like that. The scenes in King's Landing look incredibly colorful. I don't think the choice to make Winterfell and other northern areas look significantly darker now that Winter has arrived is a bad one. That said, I do think the color grading looks tacky. I would much prefer if they just filmed every scene in the north at night time and stated that Winter coming means it's perpetually dark.

The massive difference in cinematography, artistic direction, and color grading between the two seasons is plain to see here. Game of Thrones used to be a series that was known for amazing rich color tones, hazy/dreamy diffused focus in select scenes, and an overall fantasy feel that was sorely lacking among the television landscape of the time.

New GOT is looking like just another bland dark-as-shit (literally visually dark) premium cable series with a color filter.

Stupid editors think cramming all detail into the shadow level between 16 and 24 is more atmospheric, but if you watch this on anything like a satellite or cable box that has heavily compressed video this means that all shadow detail will be destroyed and you'll have more like 4 levels of contrast over the whole greyish flat image.

They suck ass. Nothing has changed with the characters since it passed the book. They all hit a development wall and everything they do now makes no sense. Callbacks like your pic can be done by a child that has nothing to do with their writing.
