Lots of retarded stuff about the whole scenario that I won't bother to defend. But it kind of makes sense that Poe would be held to a higher standard since he's an important officer of the Resistance while Finn and Rose are basically nobodies. He still deserved more than this movie did with him.

If that was her plan all along, why not put everyone in the lifeboats and let them continue flying parallel to the rebel fleet. She could hyperspace ram the big ship right away, and save all the rest of the rebel fleet in the process.
Also let Poe out in his Xwing to solo anything that comes close to the fleet, since he can take on star destroyers by himself.
