If it didn't happen, the guy who bricked his HDD did a good job of providing pics (though those are easily faked; could just be a random comp he had). What makes me suspicious is the type of magnet the guy says he has. That's a massive magnet, it seems unlikely that would be lying around, though not impossible. I wish there were some pictures of the actual HDD and the Magnet together, that would have probably convinced me that it was more likely real than not. But without those, I'd say the odds are much lower.
