Just got back from this

Just got back from this.

What a fuckin' let down. Everyone on here was saying like it's the most refreshing superhero movie they've seen. Everyone was saying they haven't gone to the movies in years but they went and saw this and had a great time.

Fucking bullshit! This whole movie was... Fine. That's it. It was competently directed, competently acted, it had a competent script. It's a 6/10 movie. There's nothing horrendous or broken about it. But it's not amazing, not by a long shot.

No one in my entire theater laughed once. No one was smiling as they walked out.

And really, what does this movie do that a Spiderman movie couldn't do? The whole "15 year old kid in the body of an adult and buying beer and going to a strip club" was like 5 minutes of the movie. Beyond those scenes it could have been a script from another Spiderman reboot movie. I don't feel like the movie did anything new at all. It felt like "generic superhero movie".

I feel like the first Ironman movie had a script that would only ever work with Ironman. Stark has a very distinct personality, he's put in very specific circumstances (having to build an armored suit in a cave in afghanistan, the testing of his new suits powers, stuff you remember and that's unique to Ironman), and it doesn't feel like "generic superhero movie", it has a specific feel. Same with the first Guardians of the Galaxy. It has a specific feel.

Shazam didn't. It really felt like another Spiderman movie. Teenage kid gets superpowers, struggles to use them properly, struggles with his place in the world and what to do with this power, eventually defeats a bad guy.

6/10. That's the best I can do.

>Seriously analyzing fucking capeshit
Kill yourself

The movie isn't even fine. It's poor. There are only two real action sequences, which are both sub-par. The incessant quips, gags, and jokes ruin the pacing. The villain is given an interesting origin and then turned into a one-dimensional joke. Billy's story itself is incredibly rushed in the last third of the movie.

The only praise of this movie that I agree with is that children will probably it.

Darla cunny

haha agreed bros
cant wait for Spiderman: Far From Home this July 2019 starring /ourguy/ Jon Favreau

Wait, so everyone said this was refreshing despite not having gone to the movies recently to have any movies to compare it too?

These don't sound like reviews worth listening to in the first place.

Op here. Before anyone calls me a Marvel fanboy, literally the only capeshit I think I'll rewatch in the future is the first two Raimi Spiderman movies, and the first GotG. Everything else has been 1 view only for me, and I haven't even seen the vast majority of the Marvel movies because I just didn't give a shit and I still don't give a shit.

You people told me Shazam would be different and I'd have a great time at the movies and I'd leave the theater with a sense of hope for the future of capeshit. That did not happen.

>and the first GotG
Dance off bro u and me xd
I've never turned a movie off so fast

>character shouting hadoken
>entire cinema burst to laughter
i hate normies and regular cinema sometime it's a meh joke/reference it made me smile but why are they laughing like really loud

Eat.The.Disc

when you're with other people, you laugh even if you wouldn't just because they did, which is why normie sitcoms have laugh tracks. i laughed a few times, like with the nunchucks only because everyone else did

That is gonna underperform because after Endgame lots of normies are simply gonna call it quits, its gonna be hilarious to see a bunch of MCUcks blaming Sony for that.

It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all

>95% of the way through the movie
>fast

People said this was comparable to the Raimi films. Not even close. This is trash in comparison. There's no bite. The jokes aren't even in the same dimension. They're almost Marvel tier in shittiness.

You would eat up literal dogshit if someone presented it to you as an alternative to Disney.

It's entirely possible that multiple things can be bad at the same time.

I dissagree about Ironman, it's the same generic superhero movie, I don't understand why it's praised so match. It was a competent movie, but his plotline as generic as any other capeshit. Of course it has his own specific because he have a different powers in comparrison to literally superhumans and gods but that's all. You can say that Batman movie would be more specific than any other because he's batman, but if you put him in generic story then there is no real difference.
But Guardians of the galaxy isn't even look like a superhero movie, it's just a movie about space adventures.
Shazam was fine, but if fanboys praise movies like Ironman then I can understand why they like Shazam so much.

I guess the adventure aspect is one of the reasons I like GotG 1. It's a space adventure and the superhero stuff is just an additional thing.

Adventure is something this movie really needed. If I had to armchair re-do this movie I'd have all the foster kids be sucked into the Rock Of Eternity realm to be tested by the Wizard, but it wouldn't be a quick test. The test would be half the movie and it would involve them going on an adventure through those doors with the weird worlds on the other side and in the process each one of them would gain their super powers or something.

Not enough movies have adventure these days. Adventure makes everything better. Pretty much all my favorite movies are adventure movies in one way or another.

>almost
No. For starters, they're not jokes. They're well-crafted comedy, complete with setups and payoffs. That goes double for the character development, too. Hell, this movie even subverts tropes in ways Retard Johnson *wishes* he could write - things like Sivana's dad, Billy's mom, and what the nature of the champion's "true potential" is.

Honestly, I'm just glad that they made a movie of my second favorite superhero and it wasn't a complete trainwreck.

Finally, somebody with honesty and integrity on this fucking site!

Shazam was the worst capeshit I've seen since it's invention. It was paint by numbers garbage.

It is jokes and callbacks. The setup and payoff sucks. They even repeat jokes multiple times. It's really shallow.

Why did you trust Yea Forums in the first place?

SHAZAM IS A KIDS MOVIE AND EVEN THEN ITS BETTER THAN CAPTAIN MARVEL
