The lore about the Darksaber and their societal structure involves a Mandolorian Jedi bringing peace between them and the Jedi/Republic in ancient times though, therefore whoever possesses it is the leader all clans follow. So it can be inferred that there was a time when the Mandolorians were frequently at war with the Jedi at least.

He establishes the new core characters and confident and then hijacks the show with fan favorite old characters. Rebels already settles the entirety of Maul's search for Obi-wan. The movie would have to retread what Filoni already put into the canon if the Obi-wan movie includes Maul.
