Movies tend to composite a lot of environments together and layer several color filters to make them blend. Good artists know how to do it correctly, Hollywood does not always hire good artists though.

If you're colour grading a bunch of different shots that were filmed on different days in different locations under different lighting conditions that are all meant to be from the same scene it's much easier to just slap a piss filter over the lot and call it a day.
