So think in that kind of way where the words and sentences you use are far more important than the situations themselves. Crime and Punishment isn't so praised because of what happens, but how it is written and expressed.
As for the symbolism part, always strive to express yourself directly instead of behind 12 layers of "symbols" because symbolism ironically only makes a work more finite and simple because there is just one answer to every symbol you create, and once the reader "gets it" there's nothing else there to get.

Now most threads are so frustratingly asinine. Even recommendation threads, which used to be home of the pleb/patrician debate, turns in no time to shitflinging and rampant accusations with the usual buzzwords. Even politically heavy discussions aren't worthwhile, because you can't really distinguish between the supposed redditor trannies and le redpilled Yea Forums(nel) user, since they use the same terminologies and slang as the normies nowadays.
The only good threads left are /an/ or /his/ threads in Yea Forums. I hate this so much. To be fair I started posting on Yea Forums when I was 14 in 2007. I'm almost 26 now.

The point is that you grew up while the average age on the site just stayed 15 like it always was. The amount of childish posts here give that away. Problem is you're stuck here forever. No matter how low the quality becomes you still come here every single day.

It still somehow beats the rest of the internet. Social media is an absolute clusterfuck not even worth bothering with. Reddit has also severely dropped in quality and is now just a social media where everyone is anonymous. In the past it at least had specialized subreddits for niche interests where people could voice their true opinions. Now it's just jokes and middle aged moms trying to pass time. Even the specialized communities are dead.

With the advent of cheap smartphones more and more children and third worlders flood the English speaking internet. I know this because I also speak fluent Japanese and the Japanese internet is still as comfy as it was 10 years ago because third worlders and children don't flood the internet.

If every Eastern European, South American and Asian went away from the board. And parents grabbed the smartphone of their kids this place would immediately turn around and become quality again.

It's a meme and all, but r*dditors are genuinely the worst people on the internet and the sole cancer that killed the website, arguably most of the internet. Sure, people from other websites suck. But they're usually harmless and stick to themselves. Facebook is just moms at this point, tumblr is just edgy and/or hypersensitive 16-20 year old girls, twitter and youtube are basically everybody who hasn't gotten banned.
R*ddit is every bad trait of every other userbase. They have zero redeeming qualities. Their voting system basically makes the website a mob mentality, so only the most popular of pop culture or the most liberal of political views (not communist though, that's not mainstream enough) you'll be sent down the mountain entirely, contrasted with every other site where people will either ignore you or you'll naturally gain more attention for having an opposing view. This also makes it so every single comment chain goes something like "view on original post>view on above comment>pop culture reference>pop culture reference>pop culture reference". Even Yea Forums, especially notorious for having the same thread over and over (bane for example), but outside of thise threads there is plenty of variety. R*dditors also despise being criticized at all. For example, every time you call them out for r*ddit spacing, expect barrages of angry replies about how stupid you are because your website doesn't have dogshit formatting like theirs does.
This would all be fine if they just stayed on their awful website, but r*ddit is like the California of the internet, and r*dditors are likewise the Californians. They hear about how great some other state, maybe Colorado, is from fellow Californians, move there, and are outraged to find that Colorado isn't exactly like their mental image of it, and worse, it isn't like California. So they proceed to bitch and protest until Colorado and California are indistinguishable.
That is why r*ddit sucks so much.
