With Palpatine returning, all three of the main characters of the OT have now died as complete and utter abject failures.
The Empire they toppled? Back in power and worse than before, because it had all the terror but none of the governance or rule of law.
The republic Leia established? Destroyed because they refused to make an army and fight the first order so she had to scrap together guerilla troops.
Han failed as a family man, became estranged from Leia, never saw luke again, and was murdered by his own son, leaving his space ship and co-pilot to a girl he knew for a day who has the hots for his murderer.
Luke failed so hard at teaching Jedi that his student murdered all of them, and he spent 20 years actively cutting him self off so he could rot away and end the Jedi order. Only to get beat up by the aforementioned girl after refusing to teach her, and killing himself via a Skype call used as a distraction. Further, the Emperor he and vader teamed up to kill is still around causing problems.
Essentially everyone you admired died sad, alone, and having accomplished nothing, and in some cases having made everything worse. All to prop up the new characters who have very ill defined motivations and personalities.
They should have used George Lucas script, and this would never happened

The Skywalkers had a hand in three generations of galactic turmoil. They helped destroy a republic that stood for thousands of years and then broke the successor governments apart when they were not living up to their expectations. Ultimately the Skywalker dynasty was a force for chaos, and Luke realized this in TLJ when he decided to let his line die out. They didn't unite the Force in either direction, rather they took a hammer to the whole decaying religion. Whether that's good or bad depends on your viewpoint.

I know right? I can kind of get wanting to make things a bit more diverse in an effort to make it appeal to as wide an audience as possible, but they are completely neglecting nay shitting on their core audience. As much as it's a taboo thing to say in mainstream media these days, the massive core of fanboys that will buy your merch, see the movies multiple times and generally fanboy to hell for you is and will probably for the foreseeable future be largely white nerdy guys from the age about 10-35 and maybe older.
Shitting on them is just such a stupid strategy for such a long term investment that is propped up on the back of such a core audience. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of woman and minority nerds out there into Star Wars but if you look at a convention those things are usually whiter than Alaskan snow. And what about the poor nerdy white kid that gets bullied in school? Does he not deserve any strong role models anymore according to them, do they just think "yeah there's enough of that now, he can deal with being constantly presented as the bad guys in our media from now on." It's just a bit sickening how these people preach for tolerance and understanding but seem to forget that not everyone has the same experience, not every white guy grows up as a chad jock with an unlimited credit card. Not every black guy grows up in a constant environment of racial oppression and poverty, not every woman grows up constantly underestimated and belittled for her sex organs.
And yet in this age of equality we're meant to be striving to, instead we just get the narrative of everyone but the white man can be good and a hero and the white man will either be comically inept or a villain. History's just repeating itself but pushing the other way and no one seems to see it, or I guess they don't want to, every generation wants their great dragon to fight and SJWs have chosen what it is.
