Why is J.J. so obsessed with showing fragmented pieces of nostalgia?
Why is J.J. so obsessed with showing fragmented pieces of nostalgia?
because he's unable to replicate the framework
It is deep commentary about the ruination of the Western world
Because he cannot create stuff all by himself
It's a metaphor for the dead past. Let the past die, user.

that's really the only thing nerds want, especially when their favourite film series has been on hiatus for some time
They're the best things out of the sequels though, and the movies should've picked up the theme more: living in post-acoptalyic society where the empire that was ruled splintered away, and different factions vied for control.
It should've been more like the early middle ages, with people marveling at the older Roman infrastructure and not understanding how men could build such things.
But nah, we got nu-rebels and nu-empire instead...
Because that's the easiest way to include it without having to think of any story line or reason why its there
Because it looks cool
Why envision new elements when you can be captivated by familiarity?
It's like babies and french fries. If they eat fries they'll go for things that look like fries, like dry yellow grass or spaghetti and the like. Why go for some kind of new fruit or vegetable? Fries
I'm okay with this, but it's best done as something that's just casually in the background, not so much something that has attention brought to it.
Critics look for small good things now rather than the overall content of the film to judge it as good. Look at reviews of stuff like Captain Marvel, it's all just dude it's in the 90's. If you can have enough of these scenes you can get positive reviews.
J.J. Abrams is like a tranny in the sense. You know, a tranny needs to wear make up, girly hair, skirts, and all that in order to remotely appear like the mirage of a women. Meanwhile an actual woman doesn't because she's a woman on her own. Same as this J.J. needs to wear superficial Star Wars themes in order to make his movie seem like Star Wars when it's not. It's just a movie with a skirt, but underneath there's a dick hanging in the breeze.

this
Because that's all he can do. Since he can't do anything original? Just nostalgic pastiche of better directors than him?
Because it looks epic and cool you homo
Yeah, basically this. It's just an easy way of showing something familiar in a different setting.
>HEY REMEMBER THIS?
>AND REMEMBER THIS?
>REMEMBER?
This, new story AND nostalgia fuel. Everybody wins.
a tenant of those who follow the illuminaties credo is that you must tell people what youve done, but not in which way. so they admit things through their symbolism and imagery
