No, anime is garbage. Occasionally you find a shit covered diamond NGE, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell (ONLY the 1995 movie), etc. but as a whole the genre is terrible

If anime is garbage then it means everything is garbage, and by naming those anime you are outing yourself as someone who for all intents and purposes has never watched anime.

To be fair he did name some of the only good anime

Neon genesis evangelion, both the movie and the show are the best thing to come out of anime with cowboy bebop being a close second.This just shows how far anime is from actually being a respectable medium if the only presentable works it has are before the 2000s.

Funny how the supposedly only good anime, out of the thousands in existence that have been made for 50+ years, always just happen to be the same few popular ones that everyone is familiar with.

People watch these popular anime--and only these popular anime--and then repeat the "common wisdom" that everything else is bad.

This is a trap. No matter what anime is named, you will claim it's bad. Even though you've never heard of it before.

There is lots of good anime, yet people are only ever familiar with the same few, year after year. People also aren't exposed to all anime, so if Toonami only shows anime X, Y and Z then that's what they'll watch, regardless of what else is out there.
