What did Lucas mean by this?

Luke was a mary sue

He only had to fight his old and busted Dad.

He's a Mary Joe, they just had to cram a white male who could do anything into the movie.

Luke's training was incomplete, Yoda said as much. But he abandoned his training to go get his ass handed to him by Vader.

Yoda is a gay pedophile. Back during the Jedi heyday, he could afford to be picky, but after that long-ass time on Dagobah fapping to low res bootleg hologram gay porn, he was happy for any kind of man ass.

pretty sure you got that backwards.
Yoda didn't want to train luke because he was "too old to begin training"
And he didn't want to train little Ani because he felt too much anger in him

correct me if i'm wrong

never watched the OT
is the name "anakin" ever mentioned in the movies or was something new in the PT?

I think they call him Anakin in ROTJ

>Anakin's training took decades
What do YOU mean by this? Yoda and Windu already sensed his power as an 8 year old. He was always extremely powerful force user (podrace, starfighter battle). Jedi training is less about developing force powers and abilities, but more the control and philosophical mindset of knowing when to use your powers.
>Even then, as a 8 year old, Yoda thought he was too old
This was more an excuse as they already had a sense that he was full of force potential, and also sensed his 'dark' feelings. They were reluctant to train him because of that, its literally spelt out for you in Phantom Menace.

>Luke somehow does the training in a week as a mid 20 year old.
Again, what does this mean? Yoda trained luke for a short time and even when Luke leaves Yoda warns him he didnt complete his training.

OP confirmed for short-attention-spanned brainlet

>the training
The training is completely different though. Luke had to fight Vader, an old crippled cyborg who could barely win against a senile elderly Obi-Wan. Anakin was being trained by the Jedi at their peak.

Luke says "you were once Anakin Skywalker, my father" to Vader in ROTJ, and I believe they also mention Anakin by name in ANH.

Yoda is a pedophile

That Jedi training was completely different when he was writing the OT to what it is now

I believe in Canon it was actually 6 months. Even then he was told not to go and he had a lot left to learn. Vader wasn't trying to kill him either but turn him so was just deulling with him in the same way your dad did when you were a small boy. Don't forget that luke jobbed it right up until he embraced his rage to overpower Vader.

How? It's still all about mindset.

I think he also told Luke he was too old, but then again Luke was the last hope. Anakin came when the jedi in full force, they could pick their trainees.

Luke trained for 3 years on his own before meeting Yoda, in which time he managed to force pull his lightsaber out of some snow from a few feet away. After training with Yoda he can levitate a few small rocks. He tries and fails to lift his X-wing out of the swamp. In his first fight with Vader he does a girly little force jump 10 feet out of the carbon freezing chamber. He is too poorly trained to even use the force to stop the objects Vader throws at him, instead flailing about with his lightsaber.

This, and then he still got obliterated effortlessly by based sheev.

With the fall of the order Yoda had a lot of time to actually think about what shit in Jedi training was important and gave Luke that and even then Luke left before the course was over.

>rey ‘awakens’
>beats Kylo, who had formal jedi training for years under Luke and dark side practice under Snoke, destroys any sense of threat coming from the villain side and kills the entire premise of “looking for Luke to find guidance / hone powers”
>beats Luke in the sequel too

cringe

Lukes time with Yoda was at least 1-2 months, Yoda admonishes him for not completing his training, and Luke gets his ass effortlessly handed to him by Vader, who chops Lukes hand off the moment Luke gets a lucky hit in. Then there's a 3 year gap between ESB and ROTJ where Luke continues to train vigorously, and at the end of nearly 5 years since he left Tatooine with Ben all he can do is kick hard, jump about 8 feet, and lift very small objects. He can deflect blaster bolts only if he stands still and concentrates, and he can only beat vader when he gives into his rage and taps the dark side for strength. 5 years of training and adventures and Luke still can't beat vader without tapping into the dark side. Rey becomes the strongest Jedi ever over the course of a literal week.

Luke jumped and used predcience to avoid a few direct hits. When Vader got serious, Luke got his shit pushed in so far he could taste it. ALSO THIS .

1) he didn't finish it and ended up getting his ass kicked
2) He trained for years still and was imperfect even in ROTJ
Now compare that to Rey and, well, it is laughable really.

Without any training.

Wew lad

Rey had No Training, One Week without training.

>Mmm, best you were
>A sweeter mouth than your father, you have

Luke's training was for a couple of weeks or months on Dagobah, depending how long it took the Falcon to get to Bespin from where they were in the garbage pile. Yoda said it wasn't complete and that he shouldn't have left.

Luke wasn't even trying to fight Sheeve he was unarmed

He had a crash course basically and it shows. He was completely outmatched by the Emperor.

Start at around 1:20

>outmatched by the emperor
DIDN'T
TRY
TO
FIGHT
HIM

leaving Dagobah when?

Good points, I concede.

he was also too old. They kidnap younglings when they were babies canonically

palpatine says the man who blew up the death star is the son of anakin skywalker to vader in the empire strikes back

Most of that "Jedi training" is just religious indoctrination. In reality a force-sensitive person can do most of those acrobatics on his own with a little practice.
Also I'd like to point out that the post-Order Jedi like Luke and Rey aren't very good. Luke was easily bested by an old man in a heavy suit and Rey almost lost against a mortally wounded bitchboy who wanted her alive.

Luke only became Jedi the second he threw the lightsaber down before the emporer. Rotj sucks except that final fantastic minute.

All these faggots acting like Luke was shit and Vader was just an old cripple, while Vader never reached his potential he ended up being way more impressive post ROTS and Luke beating him in ROTJ is no small feat, plus alot of the shit Luke did in those movies was badass until Lucas went overboard and made all Jedi in the PT flying ninjas

That was added in later versions, either the Special Edition VHS or the DVD. It was just "the son of Skywalker" originally.

Yeah, and he would have been fucking rekt if he did try.

>almost lost against a mortally wounded bitchboy who wanted her alive.
This is what Disney shills believe.

>Does a week's training with Yoda
>Still gets his ass beat by Vader

>Goes on a personal Jedi journey and builds his own lightsaber
>When he fights vader again in RotJ Vader was toying with him and purposefully trying to get him pissed off.

>Rey demolishes everyone she fights in a duel with no difficulty whatsoever
>Literally untrained

desu i thought the only reason luke got so strong was because yoda died and the force became unbalanced, powering luke up

Don't forget
>Lifted a mountain's worth of rubble, which even force users like Yoda or Windu would consider moderately difficult for a Jedi of their caliber
>Rey did it first try with little effort

And the CGI looked like crap.

Rey has never had a real loss under her belt and that's really the biggest issue I have with her beyond being milk toast bland. She just wins every fight she's in, yet is still treated like the underdog and we should somehow be impressed with her accomplishments when there is no struggle to them.

Other characters should be fearing her at this point for her monstrous power, including her friends. Cause she could kill them all if she wanted to.

She honestly should have been the main villain, considering Kylo had far more struggles than she ever did and actually had both victories and losses.

this. do people honestly not realize that Vader was toying with Luke the entire time also? I mean watch the movie the first time Luke actually gets lucky and nicks Vader, Vader immediately nopes him and leaves him justed with no hand

>Rey isnt very good.

Bullshit! REY IS SO POWERFUL AFTER JUST hearing ABOUT THE FORCE THAT HER CHARACTER IS THE VERY CLASSIFICATION OF mary sue PERSONIFIED.

She IS struggling and teh underbitch because she's a WOMAN you shitlord!

>flying ninjas

Fuck off, Mike!

not even a week though. since we know that TLJ takes place right after TFA and in the beginning of TLJ they make it a fucking point to say that the fleet only has like 17 hours of fuel right when Rey leaves. We can then deduce that since Rey made it back before they were completely out of fuel that she traveled to Luke (who was supposedly very far away and back) before those 17 hours were over. Yet somehow became the most powerful Jedi ever despite getting no training what soever and showing she's a violent mong who immediately goes for the darkside

to be fair it's pretty true, the movie went out of it's way to show how fucking powerful Chewie's bowcaster is and then shows Kylo taking a direct hit and still managing to fight and wreck Finn and then Rey at which point he loses. Seems like many people forget that bowcaster shot

Luke got combat training from the Rebels between New hope and Empire

Based and force-pilled.

Luke was a half Saiyan and thus could learn faster.

A lot of the words that Lucas created predates even Star Wars
Dark Lord of the Sith isn't in the movie, but was already written down
Anakin was at first Annikin

>tfw it's all the force ghost jedi masters that are actually doing all this stuff
>Rey is literally no one with no powers

>anakin - a poor white boy took a decade to train
>luke - a middle class white teenager took a week to train
>rei - an upper class white female took a day to train

and people try to tell you there's such a thing as IQ and its not just social-economics

Prime Anakin was far stronger than Luke when the latter faced Vader in episode 6.

not to mention he was actively fighting in a war for those 3 years

1) It wasn't the same training
2) He didn't have much to show for it after that week, Anakin pretty much toyed with him
3) He trained for like 2 years with Yoda as his personal mentor after that (with the burning motivation of saving his friends and loved ones no less)
4) He's the son of jedi Jesus and canonically one of the strongest jedis ever

He got his arm chopped off then he got fucked up by the emperor

The movie (empire) does a bad job showing the passage of time mid movie. Luke spent months training with Yoda. Just as it took months for Han and crew to get to bespin at sunlight speed.

A throw away line by Luke "I've been here for months, Yoda" would have fixed this.

*sub-light

>Anakin trains for 10 years
>fails, falls to the Dark Side
>Luke trains for a week
>succeeds, BTFO's Vader

Its as if there's a deeper meaning here

well he lost the fight and his hand

Skywalkers were good fighters, not good thinkers. Obi Wan was both

>Say hello to the most powerfull jedi
