Marco from metal slug

>White male
Looks like the main villain to me

>You're off the case! I've got the federation council up my ass about that last stunt you pulled!
>Your other ray gun too.

I'd love it.

Hi Disney or indie writer, no we are not going to write something for you so you can make money off of it.

>In a world

>RAVAGED BY TECHNOLOGY

Disney has their shit produced by "writers rooms", and as Gerry Conway said writers rooms produce nothing but garbage

Someone should just adapt Northwest of Earth and make it a series.

Ringworld could make a good movie

The ancient space captain
He has travelled beyond known space
Seen the despairing remnants of civilizations that were ancient when life heaved itself out of the oceans on our own Terra
Cannibalized arcane technologies to extend his own lifespan beyond mortal ken

I could def see a horror about people trapped inside an endless cookie cutter suburbia with no way out

That's J'Ah Vertt. I didn't forget him or his name.

Tell us more about his character

>um... guys? can girls play too?

I read some old french 50s or 60s book series about cryogenics being used for long space travels (no faster than light in these books) and the people using this tech being like gods to the planets they visited. Getting the tech invented from every planet of their empire and using it to stay on top. Visiting each planet ever 100 years or so.
A guy in his 30s could actually be more than a 1000 yo in real time.
idk, it seems like a pretty cool idea to me. Distance/time of travel isn't that much of a factor in most space opera I read or watched unless it's some Lost in Space/Voyager/Time travel plot point.

sounds like Alexei Panshins Rite of Passage, the most obscure of Nebula Award winners

He hates bread stealers.

His ship

That's Uggu Buugu. He comes from the planet Gorpan. He spends his days talking about video games and movies and has three girlfriends. Also everybody loves him. He's a top-ranking bounty hunter, and also has a lightsaber.

Kick ass space ships

Tramp freighter captain.

>Alexei Panshins Rite of Passage
Not that. I'm googling for it right now. It's been years since I read that.

Judging by his stance and expression, he’s a city dweller on a space safari that’s gone wrong and now he’s frozen watching his wife getting railed by an 8-armed niggerlak

Try to put some effort into this
>Chris Foss
muh nigga
moar pls

Sounds kino desu

>white
Big yikes for starter

Snorglat
He will be our big but lovable comic relief that we can merchandise the fuck out of

Does your space operate universe have magic? teleapthy? telekinetics? other mysterious ESPs? How is the theology? do we have a God, Gods or lowercase gods, spirits? Is there an afterlife? How is it? How about reincarnation?
How is space travel? Super common or rare? Expensive or cheap? FTL? ho much FTL?
After all these are answered, what follows? What are the core conflicts, past, present and future, that people have?

World building is HARD.

literal
space opera

I found it:
yfolire.net/sf/critiques.php?id=220

trying to intentionally come up with all these rules to deliberately make an expansive universe typically falls flat on its face, same as when studios try to construct a franchise

Future is run by an oppressive matriarch

Can we have arcologies?

>Falling for the worldbuilding meme
Just figure out a plot and make up shit as you go.
Not everything has to be cookie cutter magic / orcs/ whatever as if you're ticking boxes.
It has to come naturally.

>tfw everyone's on the 80's/90's nostalgia
>nobody would care for a 70's themed retrofuturistic thing with disco dancing ayys and Buick musclecar styled ships

Syd Mead production design is fine too
I'd like it for a Neuromancer film
