The whispering monologues the characters had in the Lynch version was shit. Permeated the film too much, interrupted the tone of a scene, were cringe worthy, etc. but have Irulan being the overall narrating of the film that says shit towards the end of a scene as it begins transitioning into another could work. She pretty much was the story narrator in the first book.
