OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NONO

Moving Star Wars to the small screen.

Merch is down. A Star Wars movie flopped, and TLJ ripped the fans into pieces to the point that boycotts are real.

Now that Iger has admitted Kennedy has failed and by extension Rian Johnson, where will the Franchise go if the TV shows are bad/good? Who will lead it?

Do people actually think Rian Johnson will get another film when they are putting things on pause?

Are they going to try to build new Star Wars connections, characters, and ideas on TV before moving them to the big screen now that the original characters are dead or too old?

I think the reason Marvel can inject SJW politics and be successful where Star Wars and Star Trek cannot, is because of the fanbases. I think Marvel has a built in SJW presence with the print comics and tumblr... 15-22 year old females and males identify with the characters and grew up with them, where as Star Wars and Trek are still connection for older white men... just like Ghost busters. If Disney was smart they would realize this marketing trend and give fan service to older white fans.

Why couldn't they just do one more trilogy for old white men before letting us die off and rest, and build up whatever new fans want on TV in the first place?

It is over.

Shut the fuck up you're goddamn retarded. Have you seen a screening for the new Star Wars? It's not old white men, it's a pastiche of every age and race. Star Wars is one of those cultural icons that transcends race and generations.

The reason people are having a hard time swallowing this shit is precisely the opposite of your argument. It's because people have no real connection to these Marvel characters' backstory. Very few people actually read comic books. Whereas everyone and anyone has seen the original trilogy and the prequels, both of which were entirely devoid of political correct propaganda.

To watch Star Wars now and have it stuffed to the seams with political correctness feels awkward and out of place. Marvel gets away with it because who really has any idea what a Captain Marvel comic book is like. No one has any idea about the Avengers, really. These franchises are new enough that they were created within the environment of political correctness, and as such political correctness doesn't feel out of place within them.

>disney still can't make a good sw video game

FUCKING THIS

SKYWALKERS RISE UP!

in thirty years, SW 10, where a rebellion cruiser, piloted by Holdor clone, will hyperspace into a space station where 60 year old Rey happens to be hanging around bringing the pointless plot elements to full circle

everyone on this board, sitting in theatre, will go "SHIT THEY FUCKED ME AGAIN"

>EA still can't make a good video game
ftfy

of course they're stopping

they fucking sank the franchise with TLJ and Solo.

maybe next time write a trilogy with actually likeable characters and a coherent story

lol you feverish channers have lost your goddamned minds

>anything star wars related happens
>incel still asshurt about TLJ: "OHNONONONONO"

>mehanix gloves

based, those things are great for anything

OT also had Tarkin and Boba Fett.

Don't deviate from your script, shill. You make it too obvious.

>I don't know what I'm talking about

We know.

The problem was that making Star Wars sequels was a bad idea in the first place. There's no way to make them satisfying because the story had already concluded.
>Luke's main goals are to stop the empire, save his father, and resist the temptation of the dark side.
>By destroying the Death Star, resulting in the death of the Emperor, Vader, and likely most of the Imperial chain of command, the Empire is more or less finished
>Vader found the light, shortly before passing away
>Luke threw away his Lightsaber, rejecting violence, as well as the lure of the dark side.

The end. That's it. There's no more story. Everything that the heroes had set out to achieve had been achieved. This means there are only two ways to move forward in a sequel trilogy.

>Tell a completely new story that feels disjointed from the Star Wars OT
>Stealth retcon the end of ROTJ so that the Empire is still around, and the entire OT was a waste of time

Obviously, both of these options suck, but Disney wants to make more Star Wars movies, so here we are. JJ decided to do the second one, but by making his movie a near remake of the original, most people didn't notice. Rian decided he wanted to go with the first one and write a very different story, but still inherited the version of Star Wars where JJ had already shit on everything the fans loved about the OT.

>The Last Jedi
Not only does this film take the bad parts of option A, by creating a completely new storyline that feels hamfisted into the Star Wars universe by using offscreen character development as an excuse to treat the cast like completely different characters, but also has the unfortunate duty of being the movie that tells them that The Empire being back in peak condition means that Luke failed and everything you enjoyed about the OT doesn't mean shit because JJ was too afraid to take risks with TFA. The Last Jedi has the worst of both worlds, and people who were too stupid to see it coming are now butthurt.

>trilogy is over so not as many star wars movies are going to be made for a while
>WE DID IT !!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA TAKE THAT LIBSHITS!!!! MEME MAGIC IS REAL!!!!!!

>rian trilogy

You forgot they had plans for RJ's Trilogy, clearly a Solo 2, a Kenobi, and more.

Captain Marvel was invented in the fucking 40's you retard. It's not a "new franchise." Neither are the Avengers.

>Whereas everyone and anyone has seen the original trilogy and the prequels, both of which were entirely devoid of political correct propaganda

Anyone who genuinely thinks this is fucking stupid. The Rebels were supposed to represent the Vietcong, and the Empire the USA. The Empire's soldiers being called "Stormtroopers" is directly comparing the US to the Nazis. Princess Leia was entirely written as a pro-feminism character. I mean shit isn't even subtle, Leia uses the "chains of oppression" to choke out a fat slob of a man that enslaves women and treats them like sex objects. The Ewoks are literally using rocks, sticks, and log traps to kill armed soldiers. The Death Star is a literal planet destroying weapon, meant to evoke the thought of nuclear war to it's Cold War era audience. All of the bad guys are white men, while the heroes are a mixture of races, genders, and species. Palpatine's rise to power in Episode 3 is an obvious criticism of the Bush Administration. The dis-function of the Jedi order is an obvious criticism of The Catholic Church, and instead promoting the new-age hippy dippy vision of The Force from the prequel trilogy.

All of this is not only left wing political propaganda, but extremely overt political propaganda that anyone over 18 was well aware of. None of this is new, and if anything, this is one of the few things the Disney movies have done that's faithful to the originals.

Read his post you stupid child. He's saying comic books are irrelevant to 95% of the public, regardless of how long they've been around. No one knows a goddamn thing about these characters which is why their movies almost always include some kind of origin story.

Star Wars is familiar to literally everyone. That's why there isn't an aside about who Luke Skywalker is. He doesn't need an origin montage or really anything about his backstory because it's taken for granted that everyone knows his backstory.

The same absolutely cannot be said for Marvel characters. You couldn't take it for granted that your average movie goer knows a single thing about Carol Danvers or whatever the fuck her name is. Hence why a great deal of that movie is dedicated to building up this previously unknown character. New Star Wars takes familiar characters and develops them further with new storylines.

Are you REALLY going to make the argument that the new trilogy is no more political than the original trilogy?

looks super diverse you faggot.

I mean if they have a connection to Marvel or not the result is the same. Captain Fungus showed us that Marvel can interject feminist stories and make 1 billion. Disney cannot.

The original trilogy has tons of overtures to vietnam which was very left wing at the time. The prequels were filled with direct anti-bush quotes. Sorry but Lucas is a terrible lefty faggot.

But yeah your post is just kind of stretching one argument out about how marvel has no connection - which doesn't matter - i argue it does because I know 20 year old girls who love anime, marvel, and dont care much about star wars or star trek beyond nerd points.

Old white men care about star wars and stark trek.

They had like a fuckton of SW movies planned, no way Disney wasn't going to milk their acquisition until the last two films destroyed the reputation harder than JarJar.

So you're saying they bought disney NOT to pump out movies every year like marvel.. even though that was originally their plan and they erased it?
you're saying you just pushed that out of your mind and you're a giant stupid fucking shill?

LET ME HELP YOU BY POSTING IT.

Everything from 2020 on has been cancelled you fucking brainlet. So don't act like it was their plan to not make more films after the first trilogy.

Faggots like you are why we can't have discussion.

invented in the 40s but comics reinvent every 20 years with teens. Always have. Always will. Batman in the 30s is not batman today and they always mirror the kids they are sold too.

Star Wars, Trek, and Ghostbusters are all 80s MOVIES which are very different in tone and style from movies today.

There is a big disconnect there and you are a faggot onions

When they first bought the joint, the Disney execs were talking about 20 years of Star Wars movies, one a year.

I really wonder if Lucas picked Kennedy, because he knew she'd fuck it up. If she destroyed it, he'd never be tempted to go back.

I think there are small stories in there, like Obiwan's time on Tat. Fett and Han but on a small scale with nothing that connects to bigger events.

They could do amazing small scale day in the life films that make the world feel bigger without talking about Luke Vader or the force. It's just being creative and finding some good stories to tell.
