seems like exploitative trash, especially since the character was introduced a few scenes back as a cheap ploy for emotion, but it's still pretty effective. the antagonists especially had this strangely ominous presence. I'm still trying to parse this one out in my head

That scene is incredibly mean spirited and manipulative but somehow it kind of works. It's like this little aside for a character that is otherwise just cannon fodder. Think of all the random extras that get killed off as collateral damage in movies. I appreciate that they gave one of those characters that exists solely to die a bit of context. It's overwrought as fuck, but I like what they were going for.
