Slim Charles is my favorite character on The Wire
Slim Charles is my favorite character on The Wire
i dont know about favorite but enjoy when slim charles is on. hes got a very gravely yet soothing voice and cadence.
my fav character is probably snoop. something about that dyke is fascinating to watch
youtube.com
>watching the Wire unironically
*BARF*
>Implying I know the difference between unironic and ironic
is it me or does that sign in the background pretty much summarize the whole show.
Charles' Feed and Seed
Mine was either Stringer Bell or Omar Little. Great show.
I liked Cutty.
sentimental motherfucka
>mfw the wire comes on
*yaerp*
>hes got a very gravely yet soothing voice
Came here to say this. If Slim Charles voiced a GPS I'd buy it without hesitation.
>it's a bunk scene
shes annoying. almost as annoying as the other black dyke thats a cop
slim charles is a universally like supporting character.
He actually seems like a real gang banger, and he is scary looking. So I agree.
Yea she's like an abstract painting. No matter what angle you look at it you still can't tell what it is.
Stringer didn't seem like a real guy from the street, I get that he was trying to be a smart business man but he just seemed like a poser.
And Omar was kind of ridiculous. He ended up too much like Batman.
I thought the cop lesbian was a cutie.
wee bey is kino
Yea Omar is a good character but he's pretty overrated, he's probably not even in my top 10 for Wire characters, he's cool I guess but there's something about it that seems kinda gay and lame
What happened to the lawyer bitch after season 1? she looked really good in season 1 and went to shit immediately after that, McNulty cucked Daniels big time in that regard
He seems like a real street character but he's a mary sue basically.
prop joe, stringer bell, mcnutty, bunk and that fat cop thats always reading porn mags
Couldn't hold the McDick down and split.
she became a judge at the end of the show
For me, it's Shamrock. The best comic relief character.
>named Slim Charles
>is not ironically fat
Simon = hack
who's playing the new candyman? he'd be kind of perfect for it
I liked how Marlo always called him "Tall Man"
For me? Omah Lil would be my favorite character. He is a mastermind and little kids run from him saying "OMAH CUMMIN'!"
Poor girl has a raging case of fat face.
>Stringer didn't seem like a real guy from the street
That's actually what I liked about him. I liked how he was smart and business-like, instead of being just another gangbanger. I would probably put him over Omar if I could only pick one, but I like both a lot.
>He actually seems like a real gang banger, and he is scary looking.
idk about this. The most believable thug characters were people like Chris and the one minor character who cusses the shit out of the dyke cop
He was one of the few guys on the show who was actually just a Balitmore native he wasn't an actor who just traveled their to film like the majority of the cast. That's why he seemed so real, he was. One of the best characters for sure.
Chris was like the least believably street person after someone like Michael. Characters like Bird, Wee-Bey, Snoop and those two idiots who worked for Avon in S3 are a lot more typical.
I forgot how many reaction gifs I have from this show
He wholesome in The Deuce
I have actually known a guy who acted like Chris which is why I said that. he was just a low level criminal but the ultra damaged and mostly silent vibe was pretty similar
Bird was the guy I was referring to who yells at the lesbian cop so we agree there
OMAR COMING
Why does everyone hate season 2? Is it because its the one season dealing with white people? The last season is by far the weakest and yet people still like it more than season 2.
I think most people recognize that 5 is the weakest
>Why does everyone hate season 2?
True but that ending makes it worth it.
>Jimmy, you're no good for people man
>I mean damn, everybody around you, Christ
ultimate pleb filter
ziggy is kino
Bodie is my favorite. Best character arc on the show
youtube.com
he had a cool death scene. didnt go out like a bitch
just a less interesting story for a lot of people and was jarring. they were expecting an extension of season 1's characters as focal points.
I liked him as a secondary character. Definitely my favorite death scene, or Stringer's.
If you walk through the garden
his death scene is heartbreaking. The way he looks at Poot and tells him he can't leave and he should say himself without even saying a word. That final shot of his hoody over his head with the bullet holes and blood coming out of it.
Bodie was a soldier, he wasn't some scumbag mass murderer like Marlo or fucking retard like Avon or wannabe businessman like Stringer
I h
Man I was typing and tjis made me choke.
I liked it best the first time I watched The Wire but after second time it wasn't super great, I dunno why that is. Everyone is unlikeable, especially that prick in the pic
The end of his story line was unbelievably satisfying.
I didn't hate any season.
Frank Sobotka is the most relatable character in the show. Also Chris Bauer was maybe the finest actor in the show

rough and tumble type nigga

S2 is kino
I liked how even though most of the characters on this show were poor black people, the show really isnt about racism. the criminals in general dont blame white people for their problems, or at least its not the main point of the show
"ay yo muh nigga u goin da wrong way"
That's what I loved about Slim. He was a survivor, and he knew how to play the game. He never got in over his head, and he knew when to pull back. So many of his associates ended up dead or in jail, but he just kept earning.
the show is actually very neutral as far as that racial politics shit goes. They don't try to portray whitey as the root of all black poverty or any of that shit. It's about how systems erode and how we're all trapped in this crumbling bureaucracy, black and white together.
If anything it made Democrats look bad since they ran the city and were super corrupt
>"You want to take a turn but it's One Way. But there's another way..."
How my hair look, Mike?
It certainly didn't make Republicans look good though. The FBI director was a republican and he turned down the Marlo case just because Carcetti pissed him off
Because it takes literally ages to get going and almost everything in the first half is true filler.
Clay Davis was the smartest character by far. Motherfucker made out like a bandit. SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTT
THEN WE FIGHT ON THAT LIE
That's exactly who Stringer's character was supposed to be
Meanwhile the mayor got demoted to the CIA, transporting hostages in godforsaken hellholes.
>just because Carcetti pissed him off
And probably because it is niggers killing niggers.
The biggest reason people hate season two imo is that is starts out reaaaally fucking slow. It can leave a bad taste in your mouth. I was ambivalent about it my first time watching the wire. I've watched the 3 times and season 2 is tied with season one as best imo.
Baltimore native here. Ama
do your drug kingpins attend community college econ classes
when clay davis took the stand in court, that shit was amazing
They're both interesting characters and the funny thing is it doesn't seem forced that they're fags. It seems organic. Nowadays it seems like there is a corporate diversity officer that checks off boxes on certain shows whether or not they have enough x many "diversity" characters. (To say nothing of the fact the 95% of the characters in the show are African American.) It's safe to say the Wire would never get produced these days , and any "diverse" characters would be manufactured as made to order rather than something believable.
have you ever met john waters?
no it's because Carcetti pissed him off. Freamon and McNulty did all the leg work and they handed him the case and he just closed the folder and smiled, this was right after he had his meeting with Carcetti where he got told to fuck off
I wasn't hooked til second half of S2. When Ziggy has his blowup I realized the show had big ass balls. Then with the whole way S2 wrapped up in general
>Omar was kind of ridiculous
You'd almost think so, but he was based on a guy IRL. Including the jump from the apartment building. Except it was during a robbery, and an even higher story, like the 7th I think. He survived too.
Malaka
you would know all about organic faggotry
His accent was horrible in the show. Like even worse than in GoT
No. They just get elected to high positions like house majority leader, speaker of the house and chaorman of the ethich committee or whatever.
Sadly no
Wasnt mouzone based on an irl guy as well? Didnt make him any less ridiculous.
Personally I didn't mind omar at all and felt his character was fine but he is definitely overrated
is ray lewis like jesus christ there?
Omar has got some great one-liners though, the writers definitely liked his character a lot
>I don't know much about cards but I think these 45s beat a full house
Yeah that's why I said he was fine unlike mouzone. He had some great lines and really added a lot to the story.
He only murdered one person he is a peasant in baltimore
I mean he is big and surprisingly is a very humble guy when it comes to charitable causes, but not Cal Ripken Jr. level when it comes to beloved figures
Its odd bevause Ripken is a huge dick head towsrds fans.
Idiot spotted
asspain detected
No, Chris definitely is one of the most realistic. That cold silent nigga type is the one to do the most crazy shit- it's the loudmouth gangbangers that are mostly bark and no bite.
Are you kidding me? 2 is great specifically because it premptively rebuts all the dumbfuck tumblr / pol ONLY BLACK PEOPLE CRIMINALS part and shows down and out poor white fuckers are stuck in the trap too
>takes place in Baltimore
>never EVER hear anyone talk about the domino sugar plant, wuder, tagers, or worshing their clothes
Sickening.
Chris’ deep bass voice.
Gets me every time.
ambalance
I THINK BALTIMORE SUCKS!
No one cares about domino sugar
2>1>4>3>5
are you ranking the seasons themselves or just the opening credits
obviously both
3 is number 1 for both categories
for me, it's 1>4>3>2>5
3>4>2>1>5
that's what he deserved for prettying up people's parachutes before throwing them out of a plane
>whoever this "janny" is, i want that cocksucker taken out. but no body, aiight? its the bodies that be bringing the police
For me its Cedric Daniels
>knows he's likely going to prison for life
>confesses to several other unsolved murders just to take heat off the crew
This is a problem with adapting real life to fiction. Lots of things happen in reality that are too weird and improbable to work in fiction. Real life also has a lot of unexplained stuff, including important stuff, whereas that would be annoying in fiction.
