they didn't plan the whole story in advance and now they're realizing too late that killing off the main villain in the second movie of a trilogy might have been a mistake so they have to drag out the villain of the previous films to substitute him in a hurry

these films are going to look like a fucking mess to anyone who watches them all at once in the years to come. the first film sets up snoke, second movie kills him, third movie brings in a different villain who is already dead and not even hinted at returning.

I could totally see Palp's Force ghost messing with Kylo and Rey. Push Kylo towards darkness and fill Rey with doubt. This is also a really good opportunity to retcon what Rey saw in the mirror. If it's a dark place, shouldn't Palp be able to manipulate what Rey sees if he's already a voice in her head? I could see him as kind of a Ruin character, for anybody who has read the first Mistborn trilogy.

I'm 100% convinced Palp is going to have been the one pulling the strings. He learned his master's secret of immortality and perfected it. It turns out it was being a dark side Force ghost, but hey, if it works?

Rey houses half of the force ghost of Palpatine. When he fell in the death star the explosion was his force power trying to find a vessel, it found one in rey and he hid in her giving her force powers as the movies went on. Snoke is his other half, once Snoke died (according to Palpatine's plan), his other half of the force ghost went into rey. This gave her even more strength in the force. Rey is literally palpatine.
