>them
her pronouns are she/her and she is solely responsible for this amazing discovery

Naomie Harris as Katie Bouman.

She cute!

I don't think any mortal woman could play the inventor of black holes and modern science.

KEK

the guy who wrote 800,000 lines of code as himself

>women does baseline thing
>endlessly celebrated

>man does the backbone of thing
>yeah whatever have sex nerd

How long till the gamers rise up?

she's jewish, isn't she?

What is this facial expression trying to convey?

So it isnt even a picture just an elaborate photoshop?

>scientists all using Apple hardware on the actual job
What kind of fucking faggotry is this?

>woman lead of a multi-team project who gave a TED talk 2 years ago on the subject and therefore already has press/public speaking experience gets recognition for her role in the project
>a bunch of steaming incels on reddit and Yea Forums, who don't think women have enough brains for science, start looking into it hours later and misread github commits as lines of code
>MIT, the guy who "wrote 8billion lines of code" and others point out that incels are wrong
>incels keep spamming the same reddit picture on a place that supposedly hates reddit

Katie a CUTE

I hate the twitter warriors making it out that she single handedly made that picture possible
if they ever bother to ask her should would be the first person to say it that the whole thing was a collective effort

Underrated

>produce image render based on interpretation of data that matches a hypothetical idea of what some guy thinks a black hole may have
>it's totally a black hole u gaise!
>can we have another grant now?

It's not a twitter warrior, it's the actual guy that everyone is saying did more work. Even he's shooting down the "850k lines of code" shit.

How come they managed to take a pic of a black hole? A place so dense not even light escapes. Yet, here's a picture of light reflecting, ie escaping.
This is a hoax, right?
Don't get me wrong, I know we went to the moon etc, but if Einstein was correct it is impossible to photograph a black hole.

you dont see the black hole but its shadow

black holes suck stuff in. some stuff orbits black holes like any other massive body in space. think of it like rings around saturn. they don't fall in, at least not quickly. the rings are so hot from all the gravity and radiation that they glow in high energy wavelengths which can be picked up by radio telescopes. they used telescopes from all around the world to listen to it and then turn the data into a visible image.

Is it seriously just another 'this is what it COULD look like' pic like everything else from NASA that isn't earth or mars

Paul Giamotti

I was so confused about the black hole in interstellar, my science was not up to date.

kek

this is not a NASA project. it's actual captured radiowaves translated into light. the "this is what it could look like" pics are made by artists not scientists
