Which is the plotline you hate the show for dropping the most?
For me it's Tyrion's river journey. That was such fun and comfy times. Particularly in the context of the back to back books with concurrent narratives. All throughout FoC people are agonizing over Tyrion's escape and possible location and what schemes he's concocting. And in reality he's dressed in kids clothes on the mother rhoyne, pissing off the prow in the morning and playing cyvasse in the evening.

There is no evidence Stannis had any religious leanings and in fact, he regularly disregards religious practices. He's an utterly practical man and only accepted Melisandre because she made good on her promises and if that meant Stannis had to show up at the occasional night fire, (at which he didn't chant along, just stood there grinding his teeth waiting for it to be over) then so be it.

What the fuck happened? Did the books get shit too or something? It's like they forgot how to pace and structure a season (this is even more noticeable when you're drunkenly binging the whole thing a couple of weeks before the premiere), but how did it take 10 hour-long episodes to tell this much nothing? Felt like half a season worth of story was actually there, and things only really started to happen 3 episodes before the finale.
Not only that, but it's like they completely threw away basic concepts like a buildup and development, shit just fucking happens and that's it, fuck you.
Also, how come everyone just became dumber?

I asked this question in a earlier thread and never got an answer. If political marriages are a thing, why aren't the major houses just a clusterfuck of Starks, Lannisters, Tyrells, etc intermarrying each other? It seems like for generations each house is more or less their own thing. Then somehow this current generation, you have the not-Baratheons marrying with the Tyrells. You also have Tyrion sorta marrying Sansa. What about stuff like the Stark and their bannermen for example. Why haven't the Boltons or the Mormonts married into the Stark family yet? There's only so many major families around, this generation of Starks alone had five children. If the war didn't break out, those five children could have potentially married with spouses from five different vassal houses. Are you telling me that after all these years the Starks have had no marriages into the Boltons yet to create a blood tie between the two families? Who the fuck is arranging these marriages, because they don't seem to be doing an efficient job.

The conspiracy was between Rickard Stark, Jon Arryn, and Hoster Tully, (and may have even started before them) probably to install a constitutional monarchy but this probably wouldn’t have included any bloodshed, as the goal of uniting all these major Houses was to make any resistance by House Targaryen ineffective right out of the gate.
Rhaegar on the other hand, had his own plan to carry out a coup and remove his ever more crazy father from the Iron Throne and THAT was the reason for the tourney at Harrenhal; so Aegon could gauge the reactions of the Westerosi nobility and find out who would be his allies but Varys (who is a secret Blackfyre) found out about this and convinced Aerys to attend, fucking up Rhaegar’s plans as all the nobility got cold feet.

I don't know for sure, but what I'm trying to say is that most of the houses don't feel like they intermarried at all. Like the Starks have been the Starks for hundreds of years. The Boltons have been the Boltons, the Freys have been the Freys. And then this current generation hits and you're talking about Robb suddenly marrying into the Freys like it's a big deal. Why aren't past marriages ever brought up like a distant Manderley or a distant Mormont marrying a distant Stark, which is why they ended up so loyal to the Starks due to a past family bond.

But a major house like the Starks would have little to no political gain to marry that low into the totem pole. The point of a political marriage is to solidify an alliance between two houses. It was a rule of thumb for great houses to marry their minor houses to shore up power and maintain loyalty. There probably is Stark blood in the Boltons and vice versa, but they've been intermarrying for thousands of years in the north that everyone is basically extended family because of the limited houses in the north specifically. Because EVERYONE is intermarried, it doesn't make it super special to have blood ties since EVERYONE has blood ties. It reinforces the saying "The North remembers" because everyone knows everyone and is related to everyone in the north. It also makes the Red Wedding that much more heinous because not only are they breaking guest right, but also the Boltons are murdering all of their distant relatives in other houses.
Marrying outside the north isn't super common until this generation and Robert's rebellion because of the conspiracy between several great houses against the Mad King here .

Actually GRRM has been feeling overwhelmed by the pressure for years. He wants to fulfill fan expectations but his insecurity leaves him a mess of self doubt. The problem essentially comes down to wanting to keep using certain actors. They really liked the woman they had playing Ellaria. But you can't have the Dornish plot even in the slightest and replace Arriane with Ellaria. The entire thing just falls apart.
