>Watch Shazam
>The villain is by far better than any villain from the MCU
Why was he so based
>Watch Shazam
>The villain is by far better than any villain from the MCU
Why was he so based
The villain didn't even do anything noteworthy or memorable at all. I even forgot the fucking guys name. What made the movie great was Billy and his family not this guy.
Dr. sivana is basically wojak as a villain
>uses his genius to break into a magical world via writing shit on a door
>tells the wizard to get fucked for being such an asshole and steals the eye of power
>Throws his douchebag brother through a window from a skyscraper
>immediately figures out Batson is Shazam using common sense
Why was Billy more mature than Shazam?
And yet he still isn't memorable at all. Marvel usually shits the bed for villains but this dude is definitely bottom tier along with elf dude from Thor 2 and the dude with a hammer in GotG.
>isn’t memorable
>can’t stop talking about him
Ok dude
The Wisdom of Solomon is literally one of his powers.
What? You're the only person talking about him.
Because Shazam can get away with stuff Billy can’t.
He’s an incel don’t worry
>that opening car scene
Goddamn
His backstory was actually simply but it was a reflection of the here, in a few words it was a classic conflict and Strong sold it really well.
Chad confidence
Think of Shazam as a mask. Billy has to keep the appearance of "not giving a fuck" because the world was too harsh to him, so he doesn't want to show weakness. But now with abilities beyond his comprehension and a new body, he has a lot of freedom and he can have the childhood he didn't have all these years. He's beyond criticism.
If Billy fucks up and acts goofy, he has to deal with people thinking he’s a weirdo loser
But if Shazam does it, who cares.
it was the worst part of shazam, next to the 90's cgi for the sins
Well, I'm sure that at least the kids that were in the same screening as me will surely remember him because they were terrified as fuck when he and the Sins killed people.
People say this about literally every capeshit villain and it's away a lie
>Ask the ball if you're man enough to throw me out of this room.
How did you react to this scene
>villian from a kids movie
>ends being a better villain than 99% of the MCU villians
I smiled cause I knew his brother was about to get dabbed on
I was surprised how brutal it was desu. Especially since this felt more brutal in terms of violence than the “gritty” BvS despite being a lighthearted comedy most of the time.
We see his father crippled in a car crash bleeding everywhere
He throws his brother at Mach speed through a plate glass window on a skyscraper, then a bunch of boardroom members get ripped apart by demons
Kids are stupid. Some thought Wakanda was a real place and some were afraid that they were going to disintegrate like spiderman. That isn't exactly a good basis for your argument.
keep tell you that wont make it true user.
>mfw Based DC keeps btfo little faggot's infantile supeh hero faggotry with their mad lad skills
You can’t tell the people shitting on it haven’t even watched it lol
Dude I already said I liked the movie. What made the movie great was Billy growing and accepting his new family not some one dimensional villain. Eat shit.
Boo Hoo daddy didn't love me, he really wasn't that special
Lol, sure Thanus is really scary with his edgelord philosophy 101 faggotry that is gonna be literally made impotent around hour 2 of Endgame by a talking racoon and a bunch of clowns dress as space faggots.
>capeshit console wars
Pathetic
It was more 'this fucking old fag keeps searching for something that was pretty much bullshit and shitting on everybody because deep down he has no intention of ever giving his powers to anybody because he got burned hard when he did last time' it was kinda deeper than any of these capeshit movies had any right to be tbqh.
The wizard sure fucked him over
Why didn't he just use his magic to erase the memories of everyone who failed? It would've prevented creating a villain.
I mean, the wizard clearly wasn’t a practical dude. He spent thousands of years using that sins test to try and find a pure hearted champion, then says “fuck it, I can’t do the test no more and I don’t have any more time, here you can take the powers kid lol”
He probably could’ve given them to any one of the people he summoned before and things probably would’ve gone fine.
He was bitter because he had lost his family by trusting somebody he shouldn't have.
This flick was kino.
Good heroes need good villains. Sivana worked as the hero's dark shadow far better than Thor 2 , GOTG, or capeshit. The contrast between the two made the lesson about family deeper.
But yeah I understand preferring the Billy story. I did too and partly because his mom was an evil cunt. But she was an even more one-dimensional villain than Sivana and wouldn't serve to develop the story
>He probably could’ve given them to any one of the people he summoned before and things probably would’ve gone fine.
nah. everybody before Billy were retarded enough to believe in his wizard bullshit and got suckered by the sins. Billy just saw a crazy nigger and tried to get away from the promise of power. And that made him worthy.
Let's ask the Magic 8 ball if Shazam threads won't always devolve into company war shitflinging.
>But yeah I understand preferring the Billy story. I did too and partly because his mom was an evil cunt
Goddamn that scene pissed me the fuck off. Some part of me just wanted Billy to Shazam the bitch. At least it looks like her life is shit.
It's really annoying since capeshit is literally bottom barrel action flick shit. I don't understand how anyone can pretend like one side is better than the other. Just enjoy the schlock you dumb fucks.
take it easy kei
looks like DCucks are still delusional
Kill yourself.
Have sex with me
They made him somewhat sympathetic, no one likes seeing kids getting abused.
Because he's played by a meme actor who's an expert at being a villain since he's done it so many times (not that Strong can't act or do other roles, like in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). Good casting is critical and he knows what he's doing.
Also those sins were creepy as fuck for a kids movie. Lots of tongue and teeth chewing on those executives. More brutal than it needed to be, if I was 4 I'd have been shitting my pants.
Kids movies used to scare kids. Shit doesn't need to be safe at all times. It was fine.
Imagine if all of a sudden you could do anything. You go from being a kid in an orphanage to having superpowers just like superman. Yeah, you go nuts.
Also, Billy Batson always acts as a grown up because he is the oldest one in the orphanage and cares for his family. In comics at least, haven't seen this film.
And Large Marge didn't need to happen and make me afraid of truck drivers when I was a kid.
Yeah, why?
It's really ironic that the kid, Freddy, is so optimistic, talkative and cheery when he doesn't have any friends at all and is actually the one that wants to be a superhero the most out of all of them.
It needs to be balanced
Cherry? Aaaaaaaaaa
Who's ready for
worm boi Mister Mind to write Mein Kampf part 2?
>>tells the wizard to get fucked for being such an asshole and steals the eye of power
fucking THIS.
>Be born mother dies (Presumably)
>Older brother and dad hate you and tell you you will never grow up to be a real man
>Get transported to a magical cave where a shitty Wizard gets mad at you for being tempted and tells you that you will never be true at heart
>Magical event leads you to be indirectly cause your dad to be forever handicap
>Dad and Brother hate you even more
Sivana doesn’t fuck around
This is how Sivana escapes for the sequel
Based
He pretty much already did this already when he opened a door to Shazam's lair.
wouldn't being a fourth dimensional being obviate the need for walking through walls
That required a door though
Mark Strong is great
Shazam was kino as fuck.
Not at all, he was pretty lame actually. Mark Strong is cool but they should have brought him back as Sinestro instead.
Marvel really shit the bed by removing Thanos's actual motivation. Another reason DCU will always be better.
Anyone think the actors should've been switched?
Was honestly thinking this was gonna happen during that jail cell scene at the end.
Maybe Mister Mind will help him figure it out
Because incel Thanos is so much better. Thanos was always a shit Darkseid ripoff. Dr. Doom was always a better villain. Too bad movies always fuck him up.
>incel Thanos
Thanos is a psychopath romantic and was seduced by Death at a very young age.
*Ahem*
they really shit the bed with the nu52 characterization originaly he was more childish and wasnt a little shit he was also seeking to do good even giving money to the homless, so it made more sense for him to be child like when he turned into captain marvel, but his personality was child like but he was alway wise and always sought for the benifit of others wihtout asking for anything in return
they alredy wrote the script with black adamn and couldnt be arsed to do a massive re write to actualy give sivana his own personality so instead they just turned him into a shit rip off of black adamn and killed any chance of getting a true sivanna villian in the sequals which i doubt will happen
What a shame.
We still have a good shot at getting his kids
He was a whiner. Not a bad ass. And easily manipulated at that.
Sans... SANS UNDERTALE!?
What the fuck you stupid little gooks got some nerve posting undertale on Yea Forums, YOU NEED TO LEAVE BACK TO YOUR FILTHY VG and or V threads you fucking turbo nigger!
I wanted him to torture his brother more desu.
Turned to my friend and said 'based'
He was extremely well-defined and served a narrative purpose. His jealousy was prevalent through every single thing he did.
Simply put, he was well written.
He's a meme of a villian. Can't even kill some kids. He also gets duped by Shazam multiple times.
>Good casting is critical and he knows what he's doing.
I'm glad WB figured this out just in time for Disney to forget.
The real villain was the gang of seven demons who used him and took advantage of his jealousy.
Now imagine a thread about the villain of Captain Toejam.
Oh wait there isn't one.
it was only because it was mark strong, but he was a fucking forgettable villain along with those shitty 7 deadly sins. you'd think that they'd be personifications of their aspects or some shit. like in that scene where he crashes that board meeting, I half expected the lust demon to molest that female executive.
Not really, the Sivana in the movie is the one in the new comic, the difference is that Black Adam simply didn't high-jacked the plot.
They only dropped the ball by not cgi Mark Strong as a weak nigga in the after credit scene thou.
>you'd think that they'd be personifications of their aspects
They were and I could tell they were even from a camrip.
Why did the door to the sorcerer kill that scientist lady? it wasn't a purely evil realm for the demons. Why did the 7 deadly sins look like shit? how has that wizard not found anyone worthy after so long? if he was gonna just pick some random kid he could have just given it to Batman or something. How is billy going to pass on his powers when he eventually gets old without the staff thing? why is the evil demon ball out in the open?
They should have given them some color. Right now they're just 7 mini Doomsday. Also, What happened to their abilities? You would assume they would cause a mass panic because of their influence like how the Wizard described them.
This movie has super convenient moments to push forward the plot. I actually rolled my eyes with how Freddy was just screaming "Billy" while Sivana was there. As for the worthiness, I'm assuming nobody was really worthy. Billy was just the wizard's last hope.
BIG RED CHEESE
hahaha that 'fourth dimension equation' is hilarious
they all look like shitty fart monsters, they didn't even demonstrate their namesake powers. all they did was turn into farts, zap things and bite people's heads off
But the villain was barely explored. Besides
>decides he can only trust and rely on himself
>immediately trusts and relies on literal demons
It was one of the main mistakes the movie made.
>Billy
Billy was a shithead even if he's cute. He immediately uses his power to get attention (Pride), money (Greed) and for fun.
>his family
There's not enough family interaction to justify the thing that happens.
>Lots of tongue
I appreciated Mary getting tied up like in my tentacle porn.
>Also those sins were creepy as fuck for a kids movie.
Good. Most shit for kids is so safe. In 20 years threads will be made about the Sins on here and how they terrified the OP as a kid.
>Thanos is only purple from a genetic defect
The fuck?
Funny because they actually acknowledged that in the movie when Billy talks about how he thought Lust would be a lot hotter.
kek
Why the fuck do you think he's purple and deformed?
>badguy monologues
>protag can't hear him
I kek'd at that.
One of the things I actually liked about the humour in Shazam is that it didn't undercut the tone for the most part and Shazam showcasing that he doesn't have superhearing like Superman does also gives the viewer more to learn about the character's abilities.
me on the bottom right
He's an alien?
So Billy became Shazam by default rather than because he was actually 'good enough' for the power, right?
He didn't do the purity test.
because they didn't kill him
it's based on 52, don't try and think about it to hard, originally Billy and Captain Marvel are two separate entities
Wait, did you believe that the residents of Titan are purple people?
The Wizard realizes in his "dying" words that he's been too harsh with the pure of heart criterion and that if he doesn't choose a champion soon the Rock of Eternity would be left to ruin.
Why wouldn't they be? They're fucking aliens.
My son and daughter were pretty scared also. After that point my daughter got it in her head it was a scary movie and started to cry about going home. Had to have an argument with a 6 year old about weather it was a super hero movie or a scary movie. She finally perked up at the end though when they all shazamed.
Because Thanos possesses the Deviant gene which drove his mother mad.
It's why he also looks like a Skrull (Deviant).
You'll probably learn more about it in the Eternals film if Disney ever wants to go that path.
Kryptonians arent purple, Thanagarians arent purple, Asgardians arent purple, etc. Just cuz they are an alien doesn't mean they have to look like an alien.
Thanos is an Eternal but born with a mutation called a Deviant.
Gamora is green and Nebula is blue. I just figured the purple shit was normal.
You never questioned why he looks like a juiced up Skrull?
I still haven't even watched Captain Marvel. It looks like shit.
>questioning the logic of alien skin color in a MCU movie
Why is The Joker so upset?
fucking hate mark strong. so sick of his dollar store hank azaria/etc
Well, it is the answer.
Thanos does not belong to a race of purple beings with scraggly chins as you would have been led to believe.
And if I recall correctly, Thanos actually saved Gamora from a doomed future where her people were getting wiped out by an empire I can't recall the name of.
Hence why he trained her to be a deadly assassin and be capable of defending herself.
>hence why
Hence*
Because he's MARK FUCKING STRONG.
What is this autism?
They didn't show any other aliens from his planet. If you have only seen him, the logic that makes sense without any other information is that the other people from his planet would look the same.
you're just saying from the comics, if you had not read those you would think everyone from titan was purple too. It's in no way obvious from the movies that he might be different than the other inhabitants, or a deviant, or that a deviant is even a thing.
Because he's kind of tragic, for one thing. He was almost the Champion but was cucked out of it by being tainted by growing up surrounded by a family of prolapsed assholes.
I can relate.
Fucking based.
I had to stop myself from cheering for him, because it was so fucking awesome.
Fucking kek.
because he's sympathetic in just about every regard
>family didn't give him a chance
>shazam didn't give him a chance
>worked his whole life to get the devil's eye
>some teenager gets the powers from shazam
the movie took a risk and had the villain arguably as sympathetic as the hero and made it work
THIS
Thaddeus was chosen to be the hero, but failed the test. And unfortunately caused his dad to lose a leg afterwards. Bad enough that his own father and older brother hates and looks down on him, but for a magical wizard to deem you unworthy was the clincher.
From Christmas Eve of 1974 to December 2019, can you even fathom how shitty Sivana’s life must’ve been. His brother bullying and probably beating him for causing the accident that crippled their dad. Thaddeus’ father bashing on him everyday since then. Maybe even his grandfather too? Nobody to help the boy in his time of need.
The Wizard was an asshole. Should’ve wiped the memories of all the kids who failed but instead created a terrible enemy.
I liked that they even mirrored them handing off their "talismans" to the family who had hurt them. I thought that was really well-handled.
I highly doubt anyone would NOT be vengeful like Thaddeus if they grew up in his shoes. Unlike BvS Lex’s rant about how his dad would beat him, Thaddeus had an even worse upbringing. Lex never got rejected to being a savior of humanity because the Wizard never saw promise. Young Thaddeus had some innate potential for the Wizard to summon him. That makes his rejection all the more worse because a potentially good candidate turned evil because of EVERYTHING after the rejection like his own father and brother hating him for causing the accident.
I liked the contrast between Billy's mom and Sivana's cartoonishly evil family. She wasn't a caricature. She was just a callous bitch. Could literally not even be assed enough to even feel bad.
This. It's like people forgot that the Wicked Witch's flying monkeys have been scaring the shit out of kids for almost a century.
It’s probably why Billy passed. Every other candidate probably felt entitled to the offer of power. Billy was weirded out and didn’t think he was special. All he wanted was to be reunited with his mom which is a pretty pure motivation. Even if the Sins and Eye were still in the cave, it’s doubtful that Billy would’ve been tempted because they couldn’t offer him what he wanted.
Thaddeus was tragic that despite being part of a rich family, he had nobody to guide or give him love. Hence why he relied on that 8-ball for direction instead of Billy who only wanted to know where his mom was. And it seems like young Thaddeus didn’t have a mom around (Dead? Divorce?) like Billy, but had to deal with a dad and brother who made his life hell. I bet young Thaddeus would gladly trade places to be a young kid in foster care than growing up as a Sivana.
That depends on the comic, Injustice and The Monster Society of Evil both used that version of him but I don't remember the mainline comics doing that.
*mainstream* not mainline
Freddy damn near broke my heart. In the good way. I finally got something to balance out the soul-crush Mowgli laid on me with Bhoot.
Fuck yes.
This shit right here is how I like my evil geniuses.
>demons tell Sivana if the champion comes into his "full power" he'll defeat them.
>what that means is never said, only demonstrated as Billy demonstrates more and more wisdom beyond his years
>meets his mom
>instantly discerns her situation, re-evaluates his own priorites, and forgives her, moves beyond her
>discerns the demon still hiding in Sivana
>goads it out by calling it what it is
Wisdom of Solomon. Absolute fucking kino.
Do I look like I read fucking Marvel?
Wisdom of Solomon is top tier.
Did you have a stroke?
Lust isn't the broad. That's pride
finally for once the bullied kid rose up and didn't "JUST BE HIMSELF"
>watch Shazam
Underage please go.
what the fuck lmao
>billy and his family
Bunch of diversity hires. Its was absolutely ridiculous.
wtf he lost to fuck her?how did the comic code let that slide?
they literally aknowledge the difference between how he acts as himself and as shazam in the movie and shitheads still think they did it wrong or the acting was miscalculated
What's everybodys opinion on Grace Fulton who played Mary Marvel for me she was the best part of the movie
*ahem*
Tossing his brother out of the building. That was LITTY
>I AM NO MAN
She’s gorgeous.
Me in the middle.
Great way to handle a villain, just top notch. He’s a complete prick, but I never once stopped feeling sorry for him.
Fucking beautiful.
I honestly hope they just let her own SuperStacy form, all due respect to the actress that played the role. Grace is just perfect for Mary.
It's because he actually gets introduced and given motivation early on, with scenes dedicated solely too him, instead of being casually introduced about 30% of the way through the movie with some really clunky screenwriting to let you know he's a bad guy, like by killing some random lug in a military base
Probably either the sins did it, since they wanted Sivana to return and not her, or it only opens for people who’ve been there before
>The villain is by far better than any villain from the MCU
This, they tried to make Billy more like a Geoff Johns version wich is basically a selfish new zoomer mentality in wich his kindness is hard to see below the surface.
An old good humble kid persona is miles better imho.
exactly, but i'm not sure why you posted a picture of thanos
He wants to fuck trannies but his wife doesnt let him
He was such a joke of a character. It was literally his fault that his dad got paralyzed. And when he brought out the 8-ball, exposing that he's still holding onto his childhood insecurities of his brotherhood being a chad, that was cringe. FACT!
He wasn't abused lol. I can tell you're a pussy-ass NEET. FACT!
fucking hell you philistine...
maybe because the actor was
MARK STRONG
is you a dummy?
>Other aliens are just humans, so you should assume that all aliens are just humans instead of being weird, multi-colored creatures
What is this horseshit
Dumbass dad should've kept his eyes on the road instead of sperging out behind the wheel
Yes and their greatest fear is a one eyed one horned flying monster
based
his acting was shitty on Low winter sun
good god man, that's quite a way to date yourself
You are 100% retarded
I felt like the whole undecided superhero name running joke was a jab at the Hero-Formerly-known-as-Captain-Marvel situation. Also, why release a movie set during Christmas in summer?
>why release a movie set during Christmas in summer?
It’s in fine company.
>car gets hit from the side and flips sideways four or so times
>dad flies through the windshield
>...
>THROUGH THE FUCKING WINDSHIELD
Got up, turned 360, and walked out.
of course it was
the more "definitive" name, although still a joke, was Captain Sparklefingers
during the youtube montage there's a video titled Zap-tain America
>needs 20 movies to set him up.
He was actually super run of the mill in my opinion. One of Mark Strong's weaker performances.
