The house that jack built

Why did this kino flop with critics and audiences?

is the directors cut out yet?

Some filmmakers have actual artistic vision. They don't make movies that tickle critics in the right places always. Von Trier is one of them, even though I don't like all his movies.

Because it's not capeshit, cinema is dead, a time for some to mourn and brave witty newcomers to rejoice.

Because this film was made for incels. And incels just pirate all their movies.

>mfw Roger Ebert's ghost is reviewing movies
>mfw his taste still sucks

Yes.

Von Trier doesn't make kino. He makes video fetish dramas.

It's that nigger matt zoller seitz who usually writes these godawful reviews on his website

Because it was fucking tiresome rote shite
His worst film by far

i see the releases from a month ago are 2min longer than the releases from 3 months ago. no additional information regarding being the directors cut in the release information. do you know the release name?

>shite

shut the fuck up and fuck off anglo

Nevermind, user. I somehow managed to misread "directors" as "unrated". DC should be released this summer.

thanks bubbulah.

all substance no style

too complex for american audiences. they like to watch movies where they can cheer for a man wearing spandex while shoving food in their fat faces

This

thanks for the info been waiting to watch this

The Tomatometer isn't a percentage of how much critics liked it, it's a percentage of how many critics liked it, so 58% isn't a flop it's just divisive.

It was too controversial, even for the Cannes festival.

Some critics are unable to endorse films that are "problematic". Never mind its actual merit, that's less important than whether or not Jack might be a bad role model

only the last 15 minutes are worth watching. if he wanted to do a descent into hell or adapt the divine comedy, we didn't need 2 hours of awkward dialogue with shitty editing and tasteless violence(and I say that as someone who likes violence, violence should be aesthetic)

it's not even problematic. there's like fucking 10 minutes of the vergil telling the main character he's a sexist pig and jack's like "yeah I'm sexist, but remember audience, I'm a psycho, now watch me dismember this corpse!"
it's was sjw to the core.

Incredible movie, I hope I can catch the director's cut in theatres at some point. I was pretty high the second time I watched it and almost threw up/had a panic attack leading up to the third incident since I knew what was coming. Still made me laugh a lot though

Watched this without realizing it was cut down and wondered what the fuck everyone was so up in arms about.

Anyone have a link to the Dir. cut?

DC/Unrated is the same and it's already out
