Todd and K I totally get, but I think Tima would fit nicely, because she's as closely related as those two, if not more so. The manga has a bit of a rushed and sloppy ending, Kishiro; the author, had a rough spot in his life thought he was dying after a medical issue, figured he'd finish off the story as fast as possible leaves the original run with a pretty lackluster ending. He went back and gave it a happier ending a little while later, then a few years after that he reconnected the new happy ending and made a sequel series "Last Order".

Shit, a ton of things improved on multiple viewings. The ending got way better on repeat viewings. I wasn't sure what to think with how it ended on a blatant cliffhanger, but on subsequent shows, I get why it was done and what it symbolizes. Other than that, a ton of the foreshadowing I caught. It's hard to remember what my first viewing was like because I've seen the movie so many times.

Alita struggles and basically fails in everything she sets out to do at first but overcomes every obstacle eventually on her own terms. She determinates. Chiren while talented, is shrewd and is content to let others offer her ways to advance and risks little personally besides her own morals. Which by the time the story begins seem to be completely eroded. Just as Alita heals Ido and Hugo, she eventually heals Chiren.

Trying to think of another aspect I had a new appreciation for; there's definitely a few.

For me, I like everything the same as the 10th time and every other time before it as the very 1st time. My opinion didn't change. It's like going on your favorite rollercoaster again and again. The only real thing is that my least favorite part of the movie, Hugo leaving the operating table and traveling up the tube, I didn't like the first time. Every time I've seen it since, I tolerate it more, but still not enough to be satisfied with it.

it does make sense that he does it though. Zapan rats him out (who else knew he was alive?) and he's still wanted for murder. He doesn't want to endanger Ido or Alita so he desperately tries to escape to the only place where the law won't look for him. It's why he initially tells Alita to not bother since they'll always be on the run.

400 million is a little over half-way to the break-even point (700 million) and just about halfway to the profit line (800 million) and a third of the way to the sequel confirmation point (1.2billion)

if anything most old school manga readers seem to have enjoyed it more or less.
It's such a whirlwind the first time so a couple viewings are necessary for sure. What's even better is that after 16 times it never feels stale and I still feel that sense of wonder as she wakes up, or that adrenaline as her first motorball game begins. Or that fun, excited feeling of the Kansas fight. There is no limit on repeat watches for this movie. It's why it's an old classic like Aliens or T2. I've watched both hundreds of times my whole life and Alita is easily slotting itself next to those. No other modern movie even compares.

No, I get all that, but there should've been more of a body horror element of him waking up in a totally alien mechanical body. I just wanted him to be half-crazed and zombie-like with Zalem obsession. Or, my God, more emotional, more frantic, something. He almost seemed to chill about the whole thing. He needed to be more manic.

His face as he plummets to his death was terrified and freaking out like it should have been, and Alita's final NOOOOOAAAWWHH!!! was cheesy instead of blood-curdling and tragic, which she did just fine plenty of other times in the movie. That whole scene was sloppy and took a lot out of the earlier scene where Hugo was stabbed.
