critique is the word you're looking for, american

when people discovered it was more profitable to shill mainstream movies than dare voice an opinion against them.

If you're going by this list alone, I'd say somewhere around 2015. In reality though, I'd say around 2010 is when it got really, really bad.

>top 10
>4 of them are movies made only to pander to blacks and sjw

Imagine actually believing The Wizard of Oz is a good movie.

Woah. We've got royalty in our midst.
Seriously though, the Wizard of Oz is trash and only holds up because its nostalgia-bait.

When a college education became devalued.

why are critics a thing, having an opinion isn't a real job

This shit has always bothered in me and it applied to everything.
At my last waiting job I would hate it when people asked me what was popular. Why are you deciding what to get based on what other people get? Are you that devoid of original thought?

It always was. You don't go to school to be a critic. A critic is what you get when someone fails at film and actual journalism.

no matter how you look at it critics are retarded, they just exist to give the unwashed masses an opinion

imagine being so retarded that you cant decide yourself what movies you want to watch

not just movies, critics of anything in general shouldn't be a thing, you should be your own critic

Do other countries besides America rely on critics as much as retards here do? I can't imagine that being a critic in other countries is as lucrative job as it is here.

If it's popular then it must be worth trying. I don't see how that wouldn't be the case. The difference with the movies on that list is the obvious sociopolitical bias.

ah-bloo-bloo to you too

The problem is most critics are plebs. A good critic is always worth listening to.

I would always recommend the most unpopular and worst tasting dishes just to mess with the people who asked that. Form your own opinions.

Around the time avengers was released.

Wow, what a great way to ensure customers don't come back. I hope you were fired from that job, fucking edgy faggot.

>Seven out of the top ten films are from the most recent four years.

Surely this is the biggest indication that RT is a pleb site?

I worked at the breakfast restaurant equivalent of Walmart. It didn't matter if random tables ever came back. I made my money on regulars.

Critics are a thing because people have limited amounts of time and money. They can’t watch every movie, or eat at every restaurant, or read every book, etc., so they want to know if something is worth committing time and money to.

Advent of internet-based content. It's more about clicks now.

That's not an argument.
The whole reason teaser trailers exist is to gauge and test your interest for any particular movie and they're only ever two minutes long. There's no need for film critics.

I will give you books and restaurants though.

See psychiatrist

When illiterate retards started to think that "film criticism" consists of collections of blog summaries.

>America rely on critics

They don't. "Bad" movies do well and "good" movies bomb all the time.

when they critics became shills as opposed to actually having thoughts.

I mean that's true, but a shit ton of objectively bad movies are given good reviews all the time.

did they let you wear your fedora at work

Movie critics have been trash from day one.

Journalism as a whole has been shit for decades

When films became actual trash

>Sheltered Neets with unlimited time and no responsibility on their hands can't understand why anyone would want to use a professional opinion on media before spending limited time and money on consuming it
It's easy to say that when you can just download all the animu and pirate every movie using the internet mommy is paying for it's different when you are working two jobs with a kid to feed and only have one night a month to actually go out to the movies or go out in general

You act like trailers aren't misleading literally all the time, hell capeshit even admits to shooting scenes specifically just to appear in the trailer and not in the actual movies themselves

People like that don't even use critics to decide what they watch, just ads.

None of those movies are still going to be on there by 2030.
