Vol 2 is a pleb filter
They both suck.
Quentin Tortellini is a hack.
Agreed. Vol. 1 is the exact opposite, though.
Volume 2 easily, it's almost a complete film all on it's own. The best part of 1 is the opening with vivacia fox, after that it's pretty superfluous.
Question remains: which is better?
Vol 1
Vol 2 is still good
did Tarantino make this film just to casting couch Thurman?
Is that why she divorced Ethan Howke?
Does Yea Forums consider the ending of Kill Bill vol 2 cunnyesque?
Why did David Corridine lisp, was Bill supposed to be Tarantino?
Do people like the story (get pregnant, runaway, marry a Sum41er, get shot, revenge)?
Why did vol 1 have an anime segment while 2 had a bw segment?
was Madsen the best actress or was it Lucy Liu?
Is the three Cs (cinematography, clothing and choreography) the only good thing with the films?
Indeed. Vol 2 is easily better, but I'm surprised so many anons with good taste popped out to say it. Especially the last user knows what's up: It's true that it stands on its own, you could probably cut some scenes of volume 1 into it and make it entirely redundant.
Lady Snowblood.
please provide explanation why you like 2 over 1
i only ever watch them back to back
had to wait a year until volume II came out, but it was totally worth it
doing the same with avengers endgame
I'd have to go with Vol.2 but I think they're both about the same quality.

1 is mostly just
>oh cool she cut that guy's head off
2 is much more story focused.
I just saw both films recenty. vol 1 is better. It's more stylish, has better shots and action. Vol 2 only beats it in the story part, and that's very much thanks to how the films are set up.
I think it was a mistake to divide it into two films. Would've been better as a longer 165-190 minutes film than two 2-hours films that drag on.
Hey everyone is heads or tails better than the other? No! They complete eachother.
but is the story even good?
The only part I found interesting was cut short. Like Buddy being bro with Bill, the ending and the background of Bill.
Vol 2 is basically 20 minutes black and white wedding rehearsal, 10 minutes Buddy-life, 20 minutes being in a coffin, 20 mintues being in china, 10 minutes talk and fight, 30 minutes talk with Bill.
Tarantino's movies are about being cool and stylish. and vol 1 achieves that better than vol 2 (other than in the dialogue which isn't good in either one).
I wish Vol.2 had more anime scenes desu
>I think it was a mistake to divide it into two films
What parts of the movies would you do away with then?
>I think it was a mistake to divide it into two films
nah, it works very well as 2 films.
Each one is paced and structured very well as an individual movie, with Lucy Liu's character as the one needing the
As I () said they're very similar in quality, so don't expect any major convincing arguments.
I like Volume 2 slightly better because of the Michael Madsen character and the slightly greater variety and subtlety in the storytelling. Vol.2 is much more about poetic justice for each character while Vol.1 is more about B getting back on her feet and defeating O-Ren.
>Lucy Liu's character as the one needing the
...a substantial portion of a movie to defeat as she had an army guarding her. Part 2 was getting through the rest of the assassin squad to get to Bill.
I prefer Vol. 1 literally just because of Sonny Chiba. He's god damn amazing in it.
I liked the part where you saw the stinky coma feet haha that gave me a good laugh lol
Vol 1 is obviously superior anyone who disagrees also prefers chunky tuna instead of solid
Bullshit. I'm sure you do feel a
little bit of both. But I know damn
well you feel one more than you
feel the other. The question was
which one?
they are both garbage, but at least the first one has cool action scenes
I'd speed it up. Every scene has a slow-feel to it, a leonesce pace, every delivery of a line takes a couple of seconds more than it needs to. It's simply too dragged out for being what is is, a homage to b-films from the 70s starring his muse (how can you not do that in less in 3 hours?).
Well, in terms of general quality, yes they are quite similar. But vol 1 has a pretty good anime-sequence, some really great tracking shots (like when she enters the toilet) and a kino fighting scene at the end. Does vol 2 have anything similar? Vol 1 also uses the soundtrack way better.
Vol 1 has some story too, mostly about O-Ren, but it's also 20 minutes shorter than vol 2 so it doesn't get the time to go as in depth. I feel almost every significant death is about poetic justice, in both films, it just gets explained more by having seen vol 1 before vol 2, which is an unfair critique of vol 1, which is why I'd like to see Tarantino cut both films into a single one.
I really liked both movies but I remember enjoying the second just a little bit more
>I feel almost every significant death is about poetic justice
Not nearly so much in the first one. The first movie relies primarily on the basic revenge motive to set up the conflict. Then it's just two opposing forces fighting to the death because it can not be any other way. This is articulated somewhat in the opening voiceover about how once a warrior is engaged in combat he must suppress all other emotion and focus only on victory. In the first movie, Vernita and O-Ren have nothing personal against B and she has nothing personal against them.
The second one has more complicated conflicts, with Budd having a righteous conflict with Beatrix (she broke his brother's heart) and is the only one who actually gets the best of her at any point. Then you have treacherous Elle who killed Pai Mei but who ultimate fails from her own arrogance and lack of training compared to B. And of course you have the final showdown with Bill.
>But vol 1 has a pretty good anime-sequence, some really great tracking shots (like when she enters the toilet) and a kino fighting scene at the end. Does vol 2 have anything similar?
I'd say vol 2 is just less obvious. The fight in the trailer with Elle doesn't immediately scream impressive cinematography, but it's still impeccably shot with lots of details for such a cramped space.
The chopsticks scene (as a climax to the entire training sequence) is another that is not ostentatious but extremely effective, with close-up shots of the rice to make it look like an amazing meal that she's desperate to eat. It really conveys the idea of discipline and how difficult and important even small things like this can be. (All while keeping the focus on Pai Mei and his expressions)
Then I guess nr 2, it has pai mei in it
>childhood is thinking 2 is better because it has more calm moments
>adulthood is realizing 1 is better because it sticks to it's formula and does it brilliantly.
You guys think Quentin casting couched Uma?
If he did, it was for Pulp Fiction. They already had a working relationship before Kill Bill.
First one but both are meh and these movies are the moment when Tarantino fully disappeared into his own ass.
didn't Uma divorce Ethan Hawke during filming?
and quentin let both husbands (Oldman and Hawke) of Uma die in the movie, ending it with her alone with a daughter at the same age as her irl-one.
kill bill was made for only one reason, so quentin could suck and lick umas feets
precisely what said
Heads is obviously better.
You make it more obvious you're a brainlet with each post lmao
angry cuk has misunderstanding, crashes wedding. girl slashes everyone.
>LOOK AT THESE HAM-FISTED REFERENCES TO MOVIES I LIKE!
They're both shit.
Tails is better you imbecile, it literally never fails
2 without a doubt. It is Tarantino's best.
What parts? It's one long movie split across two discs lol.
Saying one half is better than the other is dumb.
Since they're so ham-fisted, name the movie references that the average movie-goer will notice.
Please. I'll wait.
Kung Fu
The closeup shots of her feet in vol 2 was his sole purpose
One had:
O-Ren Ishii and her animated origin segment.
The superior soundtrack.
The suit goon squad.
Two had:
A shitty piece of dialogue about Superman.
A hack ending.
A supposed super hard ass being killed with very obvious foreshadowing about the death punch.
The obvious name reveal for brainlets.
2 is the idiot's choice. Anyone who says the second is better is low IQ and low test.
>her animated origin segment.
It sucked.
>”Freeze, mommy!”
I crie every time
Yeah that always hits like a sack of bricks.
>omg she said mommy just like me! So frickin sad
Why is the Clark Kent speech so reviled? Is this a case of if I have to ask I don't/won't understand?
imagine saving this pic
Wiggle your BIG toe
action first, story second
My main complaint is that the speech would be a lot more fitting if Bill was talking about Bruce Wayne instead of Clark Kent.
It's a Tarantino thing. Film school slickers wouldn't understand.
Yes. 1 isn’t even worth a rewatch
>imagine saving this pic
How can you miss the point so hard?
dam i hoped for a better reply you faggot shitposter
why do americans have to turn every subject into either burgers or superheros to be able to comprehend it
Why do non-Americans gorge themselves upon the American pop-culture products like movies but act snobbish and condescending when characters in said movies reference another American pop culture products, such as comics?
Even for me, as a Russian, this elitism seems unwarranted and out of place.
>dam i hoped for a better reply you faggot shitposter
Neither
It's just one big turd cut in half
vol.2 suck dick
I didnt want to hear bill talk half a fucking hour about fucking superman and finally get btfo in under 20 seconds
I dont mind more dialog but fuck right off
>he thinks Bill died
Vol 2 is definitely better, it almost makes watching Vol 1 worth it.
come on, you can do better than this
Still waiting for Whole Bloody Affair.
This.
What the fucking fuck, a big fat long capeshit dialog that goes on and on and on and on instead of a big fight.
You cry about movies that aren't even sad. You don't deserve better.
>reminder that pai mei is still alive, that bitch lied about poison
Vol. 1 literally has a scene that had to be censored to be released in America. It’s the bigger risk taker by far and an all around better action film which is what these are right? Pic related is peak cinematography
