Man what happened to Neil Marshall? Dog soldiers and descent are two of the best horror films ever made and Centurion and Doomsday are solid action movies at minimum.

He makes movies with the same formula every time: a group of people get stuck behind enemy lines and must fight their way out. But it's a solid formula, and if the script had been smaller scale with that formula, filled with the flavour Hellboy can have, it would have been much better. I swear I can actually see where they used a black wash lazily on Harbourboy's horns and face to add detail, and it looks like a model kit or one of those resin busts you'd buy from Sideshow collectibles - this, on the other hand, basically looks real.

Even though Perlman is wearing a lot of makeup, he probably requires less make-up to look like Hellboy over the other guy. Harbour looks relatively normal without make-up compared to Perlman. Perlman's head was made to be these type of monster characters.
