Carlin went through more material over the years than double what most comedians can manage in their entire lifetimes, all of it past Hippy Dippy Weatherman is Grade A premium comedy. His last appearance on Joy Mohr was fucking brutal, because he was realizing he was being lazy and coasting. He'd been given tons of opportunities by people like Spike Lee and Chris Rock, and he blew them all off. He was waking up that he needed to get his fat ass to work...and he died.

We never saw his best work. We saw his "good enough to pay the rent" work.

But he's a martyr now because of O&A fans who can't let go of the past. I like Patrice, I thought he was funny and at times so honest it was uncomfortable. His "behave" rant about blacks was fucking epic. But his commercial work was simply not up to the actual level of talent he had. I was rewatching The Office, and saw him in the background as a warehouse worker, and realized, that was his peak as an actor.

I saw that guy with the glasses on the british "Who's line is it anyway?", he was funny as fuck.
