While they are known for provocation,this isn't true.They have many songs that have a deeper meaning and not just turbo edge outrage.

Lindemann is a great lyricist,for example Rosenrot is a varation of Heidenröslein from Göthe.Or Links 2,3,4,America,Mutter.Some songs are written really good context wise or how they are written.Rosenrot for example has parts that would be similar to old shakespeare english.
They have many songs that are more than just outrage.
Their visuals are obviously edgy and some songs aswell but they are more than that.
The only thing that are truly edgy from them are their songs about sexuality.
I am not really into metal but they are one of the few things in modern music that isn't garbage.They are just the masters of baiting people.

We're running into a translation problem, a "War Dog" isn't the same as a "Dog of War." A "Dog of War" is an old roman phrase and when referencing actual dogs (as opposed to people) it doesn't just mean the violent aspects of the animal but a "Working" breed. Something with a variety of uses and not something just for show or just for attacking, something used just for attacking would be a "War Dog."
