Anyone else think the “Ein is a husky” story is a false positive from Netflix? It’s classic advertising, you offer the viewer something outrageous and gently dial it back to something still retarded, but it doesn’t SEEM retarded because you got that high of, “at least it’s not [former form.]”

They always, CONSISTENTLY suck.

Even when the people involved care about, or even love, the source-material (unlike Netflix), it still consistently ends up being shit. The Japanese live-action adaptations of Bleach and Full Metal Alchemist are testament to this. You are fighting uphill just by virtue of the genre.

Anime/Manga just doesn't translate to Live-Action the way American comics do. Anime is by its nature too stylized to translate easily.
It fails for the same reason that attempts to adapt source-material that's more visually stylized to live-action, like Popeye and Garfield, invariably sucks regardless of how much or how little effort the creators put into it.

The worst part is that almost all of the shit there is of extremely low quality, like stuff on TV say 15 years ago before all of the big shows, shit you wouldn't even download from a torrent.
