Basically. Season 2 pulls a lot of stupid shit that may seem like nitpicks but cause major problems later on. It's clear that they didn't really care about anything other than to do the Red Wedding for ebin meme value and didn't care about planning ahead beyond that. Season 4 is a huge mess and beyond that it's just awful.

Seasons 1-4 are pretty good, with the 4th being the absolute kino season.

Show dropped HARD at s5, it was overall extremely boring except for the last two episodes (or whichever was "Hardhome").

Season 6 was alright again, but you gotta understand that at this point the writers of the show deviated a lot from the books and made some insanely retarded choices. If you can get past that s6 had some kino moments.

s7 was one of the worst things I've ever seen.

Remember when Yara sailed around the entire continent just to get scared by some dogs? Remember when Jon knew Bran was alive but didn't seem to care? Remember Ramsay being more edgy than a goth 13-year-old? Remember how they cut out the best written part of the book for a 10 minute monologue about beetles? Remember how nothing Shae ever said or did makes any sense what so ever? Remember how the dramatic climax was spoiled a season before? I know everyone loved Oberyn and Joffrey's death, but the rest wasn't that great.

Every season has great moments. Season 4 & 1 are the best, but the main reasons why later seasons are worse is because GRRM killed too many great characters which were very well casted on the show, lack of them was very visible since season 5.

It's complete schlock for about 4 seasons now. Who could've predicted a pair of "writers" who couldn't even get a pilot accepted without threats and 1 year reshoots would actually be completely incompetent? Any changes are made just because they want to. They're fucking hack frauds.

Cartoon, shirtless Ramsey and Yara noping the fuck out over dogs as a "resolution" to her major plotline -tier quest wasn't just a small flaw. It was the first time that a majority of the fans realized the show had let them down. Prior to that, you had fans and a few contrarians. After that one scene in that point episode, you had fans, contrarians, and a whole shit load of people who were looking for when the writers were going to drop the ball next. And it didn't take long because the second half of S4 had several other weak scenes, as mentioned above. Weak scenes that probably would have gotten a pass if the fans hadnt been burned by an objectively -terrible- one earlier in the season.

This actually makes me mad as hell, because they make so many promo videos talking about the work behind the costumes and yada yada and people too are amazed by the clothing, when in reality it was actually season 1 that had THE great clothing and setting.

hodor's death was bretti gud desu. battle of the bastards with its walls of corpses and suddenly appearing armies on home soil was retarded, last kingdom has much better battles.

The only real answer is that GOT follows various plots and each one starts getting shitty at different points in time. In general though I'd say around the time the book ends is when it really starts getting horrible.

And speaking of parrots, there were lots of side characters that got thankfully cut like the black dude in the rainbow feathered cloak that hung around the throne room. Still, if accepting them would have meant being 100% faithful to the books, i'd gladly have tolerated Tyrion with no nose and one red eye and talking ravens and castle doors.
