Captain Marvel is part of the power stone. Getting her powers from it and has a connection too it. This will have a story purposes, Thanos and Captain Marvel will tug of war for it.
Dr. Strange for all intents and purposes might as well have the time stone. He has entered into it. Time is weird as well. To have it at one point means to have it at any point. Dormammu also has a severe connection to the stone.
Vision is the mind stone. There is the whole scene in Infinity War that explains this.
Gamora has become the soul stone by being sacrificed to it.
Thanos doesn't actually try to use the stones again as the movie dialogue says. It is the individuals who have the greatest connection to the stones trying to undo what Thanos' decimation.
Essentially the only way the Avengers have a chance is because so many of them and other beings in the universe have become attached to the stones, physically, spiritually etc. Everyone Thanos snapped, also didn't get snapped. Thanos created to existences. In the one we saw cinematically the first half of the universe dusted. In a second, everyone who is left actually got dusted. There is an universe of remaining the Avengers. Imagine the main movie poster with everyone who got snapped. They're trying to achieve the same thing the heroes in “our” universe are trying to accomplish.
Also there are two Thanos.Thanos made two universe, but he exists in both. This halves his power. Because of the relationship individuals have with the stones Thanos has less control over them. The stones won't always obey him (them).
In the 14 million plus timelines that the Avengers have a chance is The One. The timeline with two Thanos each at half power and with half the stones committed to other beings. Only the awaking of Gamora in the Soulstone that turns the tide in the Avengers favor.
Also, Captain America will turn over the title and of “Cap” and the unofficial role of head of the avengers to Captain Marvel. “They need you, Cap.”
