I stopped at 5 I think. The one where he watches the old serial killer for like 10 episodes.

I only saw season 1. First episode of season 2 bored me off. What were they actually setting up?

Season 2 was "the bay harbor butcher", Dexter's bags were found, the FBI gets involved, Debra is traumatized over her boyfriend trying to kill her, Doakes starts hounding Dexter more, and Rita thinks Dexter is on drugs so she makes him go to NA where he meets a foreign girl who really likes him.

Oh, you gotta watch it till the last seasons.

John Lithgow's season was the last decent one, and it's probably top 3 overall.

You're not missing much.

>Season 1, 2, 4
Watch all of it
>Season 3,5-8
Watch the first episode.
Watch the first and last ten minutes of every episode
Watch the season finale

Season one episode one.
If you really like it watch the two first seasons.
If you really, really liked it watch season 3.
After that is pushing it

I'm on the one with Tom Hanks' kid. I've stalled on episode 2. I want to watch an interesting show that isn't 45-60 minutes, something shorter like 22-30.

Here is the definitive Dexter watch-order: you watch one, then two, then you suffer through three because let's be honest it isn't good but it gets you to FOUR. And season four is the best and final season. You need to have the willpower to end it there; nothing else of any worth or good happens after four, user. Be strong. Stop there.

I watched season 1 and 2 and liked it. Season 3 was boring as fuck, season 4 was a step up but still not great, then I watched first episode of season 5 and I almost fell asleep. I couldn't be bothered to watch the rest.
Tried to go back yesterday actually, since I finished the show I was watching, halfway through ep2 I just said 'fuck it' and went to bed.

>I want to watch an interesting show that isn't 45-60 minutes, something shorter like 22-30
Did you watch Love, Death + Robots?

Remember that time Debra lost her hand?

Between the awful Romance writing, somehow always meeting new serial killers, and Deb, when Julia Styles came in that was all I could take.

>Watch the first and last ten minutes of every episode
May as well just read the plot summary online. Imagine saying to yourself, mid scene, "nope, I'm stopping RIGHT NOW. Yea Forums guy said 10 mins, no more, no less!"

What the actual fuck is that cartoony gore?

It's in every Zahler movie. He does over the top, b movie type flicks with equally over the top gore. A lot of fun to watch actually.

season 2 is only worth watching for 5 minutes of Doakes memes and 5 seconds of british girl tits
it's ironic that the show got worse after Rita left since the "I have to have a normal life so nobody will suspect some random autistic lab tech of being a serial killer" part of the show was terrible

Honestly, 2.
If you really desperate for more after that, 4.

I didn't even bother watching S8, someone spoil me.

what movie is this?

Season 4 is the peak desu.

Dexter discovers a serial killer but it's a werewolf. He also discovers that his Dark Passenger is the spirit of a member of an ancient alien race that used to live on the moon and that's why he's a lunatic. Eventually the Dark Passenger infects Debra and she stops having her period, leading to a freakout about incest babies.

Doesn't this shit actually happen in the novels?

dragged across concrete around the 70 minute mark

Cringe. Enjoy eating shit.

Well I don't know if you enjoyed Doakes as a character but he reaches his conclusion by the end of season 2, so you might want to watch to the end of it at least

Otherwise I don't know why you're even still curious

I watched the whole thing and I’m not ashamed

I can't recall if 'Barry' was 22 min per episode but it's a similar premise and very good. It's recent too, season 2 only started its premiere (I feel like season 1 has a perfect stopping point though)

stop after season 5, rest is hot garbage

Did you at least enjoy the scene of Dex delivering the news of Rita's death to her kids in a monotone while still wearing his Mickey Mouse hat?

That season had such a predictable ending, trust me you will see it from miles away. The concept was alright but looking back, forgettable

Stop after S2, the rest is total shit.

Seasons: 4>2>1>5>3>7>6>8
Good stopping points being season 2 or season 4

The writers were winging it after the first. They spend more time fleshing out the supporting cast which means more soap opera bullshit in season 2 onwards.

Seasons 5 and 6 was passable. 7 and 8 were utter garbage

Not him, but I think that's a perfect way to watch Dexter. Season 3 was so much waffling nonsense. And the seasons past 4 aren't worth watching at all.

I don't get why people are digging into 3 so hard. It's not great and it's too slow sure, but it's nowhere near as bad as 6, 7 and 8 which just don't make any sense on any level whatsoever.

It's coherent and consistent, though it's the start of them running out of things for the other cops to do and the introduction of the soap opera stuff.

7 is actually a great season. 5, 6, and 8 suck

I watched all of it. It sucks after 1 but the 3rd it gets good again and beyond that it's laughingly bad

Except they kill off our villain halfway through and end up with some random faceless bad guy? And the whole Deb killing LaGuerta thing? And we spend half the season just hanging around a boat, or listening to Dex go "why do I want to fuck the blonde?" "I wonder why I want to fuck the blonde" "Should I fuck the blonde?" "My dark passenger wants to fuck the blonde". The incest plotline immediately getting abandoned? Deb finding out about Dex and then just sort of going along with it most of the time?

Oh, and the whole "Who's going to be sargent" thing, and Angel's restaurant, and everyone caring loads about Mike dying, who no one had mentioned before or since

1,2,4 are the only good seasons

astor is hot

this guy knows what's up, s1, 2 and 4 always jump to mind when someone talks about this show, the rest is somewhat stale garbage, gets too corny aswell.
