A-all it had going for it was it's set design

>a-all it had going for it was it's set design
Keep telling yourself that. Professional movie critics generally don't like to think about the afterlife. It stirred you on a level so deep you didn't think it was possible, and that makes you very uncomfortable. Nothing good is waiting for us after our lives here end, and films like Event Horizon defy Hollywood expectations and serve as the ultimate in your face predictive programming/gloating by the Satanic elite.

Event Horizon is a comfy movie

>has nothing in common with Alien other than it being set in outer space and being violent
>"I-I-It's just an Alien ripoff! Don't go see it!"
I didn't realize James Cameron owns the space horror genre.

In the script the actually go into a different galaxy and the entity that also takes over the ship and Weir is pretty much like one of the Old Ones.

>something even worse and far more ancient than the devil, the supposed greatest evil in existence
fucking kino

Yes. IIRC he states that he isn't the Devil because there are no such things as devils and gods. There is just cold nothingness.

>that scene where the black dude surfs debris back down from space and finds the ship again
kino

>Alien
>Cameron
Ayowokee?
Czech'd btw

I actually really liked that scene, and I'll tell you why.
It demonstrated competence, even from the wacky comic relief character. He got into bad shit, but he was a competent professional, so he got out of it too.
Compare that to literally any scene in Prometheus or Covenant, where characters that are supposed to be competent actually just act unbelievably stupidly, completely destroying your suspension of disbelief.
The black guy was the comic relief character, but he was still a hard vacuum rescue specialist and knew his shit, and survived because he could do what we were told he could due.
>Alright think, think think! I gotta blow my tank, I gotta blow my tank

The gateway is open. AND YOU ARE ALL.. COMING. WITH ME.

>it's a generic slasher
>People cream over it for decades just because it's set in space
Fuck off

>it's a generic slasher
No, it isn't. It's not a fucking slasher movie.

I think he meant body horror, but it's not entirely that either

Satan isn't real, you know.

Satan filters the souls of those unworthy for heaven
The torments that befall man are all either his own machinations or chance

Yeah, sure buddy. Back to the loony bin with you.

That’s where you’re wrong kiddo

event horizon is a WH40k prequel and nobody can tell me otherwise

>costume designer of Alien
>set decorator of Aliens
>art director of Outland
>production designer of Hardware
>editor of Full Metal Jacket
>director of photography of Aliens
>score by Michael fucking Kamen
It sure as fuck did have more going for it than just the set design.

It really does feel like one
>first warp capable ship
>warp brings you to a dimension of "pure chaos"
>'taint' of chaos corrupts anyone exposed to it

What are some books like EH? And I mean sci-fi lovecraft

Sure, but when I go in space, everyone says it's stupid.
