It wasn't simplistic as that, the negro that was lynched was haunting the town. It was a meh who cares subplot in any case.
I loved Emily in this episode, I can't blame Sweeney at all

Neil Gaiman seems to follow the H.P. Lovecraft form of writing where he seems purposefully vague to create a sense of mystique and awe, when in reality neither reader (or viewer in this case) or author have any idea of what's going on at all.
Not to mention Amazon inserting all that faggot shit.

Anansi as a character shows this very one sided view, as the blacks as victims and is a preacher, more than a story teller/trickster god which Anansi was supposed to be, this is lost in the show. Anyway the story doesn't make him absolutely right as the same blacks that are victimized perpetuate their own situation, that's what the ghost represents.

I haven't watched season 2 but this is accurate. Is it that much worse than season 1? I thought it was decent, some parts good even.

I like Gaiman better. Lovecraft doesn't write characters, only narrators and the victims that drive the stories
It's different. 1st was more of a road trip like the book. The insert stories are more developed becoming subplots, which is slowing the overarching plot of the war between the old and the new gods.

3 Episode for the slavery plot is bullshit.
I am ok with Anansi speaking about slavery and racism, he is born from this thing. But this thing is becoming Black history month the show.

What the fuck is this show even about?

Was thinking about reading the book. Haven't seen the show but is it an accurate adaptation? How far is it?

Old gods vs new gods

he made them so mad they an hero'd in his name, sacrificing themselves for his power. he's a trickster. wait, you thought it was literally about black lives matter white people bad, when the show couldn't be more heavy handed about the power of faith and sacrifice, and how the gods need it, oh...

Haven't read AG and don't know how well the show portrays is but I am a casual fan of his other stuff especially Sandman.
I would argue he can be pretty hit or miss and one of the things he gets hung up about that seems to be the main theme of AG is that beliefs define reality (or at least how we see it). His stuff has a point just that he not always manages to properly elaborate or even convey it. However when he hits the mark, He HITS the mark. Good shit when it works, a little out there.
