I think he wrote a good chunk of their self-titled album. Other than that, Jerry is pretty much the mastermind of the band's music. His 2nd solo album is some pretty heavy shit. One of my favourite guitar players.

You can see these solo albums were a shift away from the more harmonic grunge sound AiC were known for, to a more sludge/doom metal sound that's been Jerry's sound for the last 20 years

Jerry still did the low and high octave harmonies in his solo stuff like in AiC. I can still hear a bit of Layne in his voice in some of the songs.

Even when Layne is in his worst physcial and mental state, he still sounds amazing.

I remember being 11 or 12 and had my very own Sony cassette player I got for my birthday. I got to pick a cassette at the store and chose Alice In Chains because the cover looked cool. Literally the first cassette I ever bought myself. Anyway it fucking blew my mind, I was pretty sheltered and it scared me listening to Alice In Chains but I loved it at the same time. My friends mom took my Sony ans listened to a song, it was the one where it said, “angel outside you he’ll within” or something like that. She fucking took the cassette out and smashed it and called my mom telling her I was listening to satanic music. I was pretty upset but so my mom got me riders in the sky cassettes which were actually really good so I felt better.
