Honestly ever since the Joker trailer dropped I've seen a subtle difference in those around me. I think that Joker trailer unlocked something in the population's subconscious. On my way to work this morning my usual route was obstructed by a gruesome car wreck, so I took surface streets. I saw strange sights throughout my ride. Passing under a tunnel I saw a shirtless man covered in mud pushing a midget wearing old Victorian era garb in a shopping cart while screaming some strange brutal language.
At a red light I saw a woman grab a piece of raw red meat from her center compartment and start gnashing on it. She then tucked it somewhere in her lap after the car behind her caught her attention by honking at the green light. Only half of my coworkers showed up today. They said there was a bug going around. The coworkers that did show up all had the Joker trailer playing on their computer screens throughout the day. I saw two people sitting side by side watching the same video. One nudged the other on the shoulder and said "You have to see this." Then the one guy went over and was amazed by the trailer as if it wasn't the same exact video he had already been watching.
The boss lady always wears an abundance of make up. But her lipstick and eye shadow seemed to have been applied hastily and with more product than usual.
Although this change might be a good thing. Ever since the trailer dropped there's been a noticeable influx in people's sense of humor. Every one was cracking jokes today. After a while the whole office was a symphony of fits of laughter. My cheeks and stomach still hurt from it. It seems like laughter has been just as infectious as that sick bug going around. I'm actually still laughing right now as I write this.
So whose idea was it to make the Joker a sympathetic villain? Someone needs to raise Heith Ledger from the dead to show these posers what real magic is.

I hate this movie. Not necessarily it’s fault but I feel like it inspired an autistic move by me. I was invited out for the first time in ages by my friends, and we ended up at some guys flat and everyone was smoking weed. I was really nervous and just went with it, and it hit me hard and I felt like my brain was full of cement and it was hard for me to form thoughts and react in time. I was daydreaming a bit and then snapped back when I realised everyone was staring at me, and one guy just said “brooo” in a really concerned voice. I asked what and apparently id been muttering shit like “and you see it’s so crazy because.... the niggers the niggers the niggers... and you look out there and I’m just like wow!” and I thought I was just thinking that because I was thinking of shitposting here. In response to this I thought I could play it off as me doing an ironic parody of racists here even though none of them browse here, and literally did the most pathetic joker laugh in between coughs and said “I hate women and fuck nig- the black- I don’t really you know it’s just crazy!” and laughed again. I’ve literally replayed the scene a million times in my head and it’s so fucking cringey. I felt like I was literally melting, the tension and embarrassment was like physical blocking and attacking my brain. I tried to leave and kept tripping up over shit on the floor and people, (there was also a black guy there who I almost stood on) and they decided I couldn’t get home alone and argued about letting me stay in the flat. Eventually they let me and I just sat there in silence while they ignored me. I fell asleep and tried to sneak out in the morning and they all saw me and just ignored me. I’m just cutting contact with them all.

Because without that environment the persons animal brain senses something is wrong and starts to go off the rails and behaving more foolishly and destructible than they otherwise would have.
Several issues with this. Back then we were not as aware of animal intelligence. These scientists presumed if the mice had food and could breed they would behave normally. We know now that animals in confined environments, with no natural light or recreational activities will go insane, you see the same stuff happening with battery farmed chickens. This intelligence has also made up aware that the mice may have knew it would be unsustainable to keep up the population in a confined space, which explains why they were killing young or refusing to breed. I certainly think living in overpopulated urban centres like cities some of these traits can be seen in humans, but they’d really have to re do the experiment with natural light, less confined space and entertainment/ activities for the animals for it to be truly accurate in representing overpopulation

I think that'd be a difference in magnitude rather than in type, user. Natural light (which people are already deficient in--vitamin D and such), open space (which, by virtue of the experiment, would become cramped eventually anyway), entertainment (fair point) might help decelerate things, but would it prevent the Malthusian death-spiral altogether? I doubt it, but further experimentation would be helpful to settle the question, you're not wrong.

I don’t get how people compare this to our SOCIETY anyway. The mice were aware they existed in a cramped environment with no escape, and that resources were infinite. This scenario would never happen in human society. Either the population grows so large we cease being able to feed everyone, and have a population crash, or we are able to feed everyone, and still live on an entire planet we can move freely across instead of a tiny box. Humans can also communicate eloquently, we could come up with plans, address the situation in some way. Comparing this experiment to society now just feels like doomsaying, and ignores how much more complex the issues are today. Capitalism is a factor, people are pursuing careers over having kids, something I don’t think could matter to a rat. Contraception also exists within our society, as well as ideas and politics, which all influence how we behave. We are not going to die out as a species unless there is some form of unavoidable natural disaster, this I am certain of.

Humans are different from animals in many ways though. Our thought is much more complex and that leads us to be much more unpredictable. Your average normalfag might be a materialist led by his most basal urges and fall into these behavioural traps, but not everyone is like that. That’s why leaders are important to humanity, we need someone who is above the more superficial and vapid elements of existence to steer the masses toward something greater, or a group of individuals. Ideally, this would be done on a local level with as little interference from a state as possible, but since both true anarchism and a more higher functioning/spiritually? (Not sure what word to use) inclined mankind is basically a pipe dream, it’s inevitable that if a crisis arises someone will lead us out of it. The danger is when authority is handed over to someone or a group of people to do this, they might just find it easier to start exterminating people. I agree that I certainly feel weird and uncomfortable when reading about this experiment, but I think that’s coming from a place of empathy toward the animals mixed with a uncomfortable idea of how “programmed” minds can be to react in certain situations. But as someone who believes in free will, I think such conditioning can be broken, it’s just difficult in any sort of society that places so much value on material wealth (not being a commie here, as they treat people like units of production and stifle Liberty all the same). The solution is fairly self evident in that regard though, although we are animals, and in many respects behave just like them, there is the capacity for human beings to impose their own restrictions and goals and rise above that sort of thinking

The animals are born, and live all their lives in a featureless, boring and enclosed space contrary to their natural surroundings and where everything is provided for them. Remind anyone of anything? The objective peak of human civilization is the as technologically advanced as possible, but in which believing in something greater than us like religion or God, and nationalism, a sense of belonging, is still reasonable. While the sense of belonging a 'nation' conveys is abstract (because you feel connected to potentially millions of people you'll never meet), it still worked fine for most of human existence, and it has been the way it worked since ancient humans stopped living in tight packs of 150 people and knew everyone.
But after a certain point of technological progression, those two start losing sense for more and more people, as you can see nowadays. And, at the same time, real technological progress stagnates, and everything starts crumbling down. I believe we crossed this barrier somewhere in the 20th century. Probably the tipping point was the creation of the internet, in 1969, and all the rapid development that came after that, but it really accelerated in these decades with the increased penetration of internet, the availability of computers connected to the internet in everyone's pockets, and the services that allow for diverse forms of information propagation (social media).
We are effectively in the Twilight Zone now. You'll see that everything will start making less and less sense.
Note that this only applies to the Western world. There are still many (albeit shrinking) parts of the world that are still except from these transformations. Think of a secluded tribe in India, or a village in Siberia, or uncontacted indians in the Amazonas, you get the idea.
