Why did such a good movie bomb?

Woah...
people suck and would rather watch brainwash
Because it was long and tedious.
4/10
Hello zoomers
People are really good at detecting dishonesty.
Did it bomb? Who gives a fuck, it was top 3 film of the year.
Fuck off nigger. Half the movie is just Gosling staring off into space with the same mongoloid expression.
Yeah, that's not true.
no mass appeal.
the studios give a fuck and directly influences their decision as to what kind of films they produce in the future so you can expect less blade runner 2049's and more the avengers: the dab awakens.
Basically, ameritard and chink markets are absolute brainless mental midgets.
Did it do well in Europe?
It was borrrrrring
dishonest special effects
Yes.
>ywn be molested by your sexy MILF boss
why live?
more like honest practical effects
Because it wasn't capeshit
Nobody appreciates this shit anymore. Art is dead, humanity is dead. Now we await the rot.
>villian was written as evil-lite like all recent villians
>no reason to care about the protag
>nothing actually going wrong, the consequences for the audience are basically nothing
they never gave me a reason to give a shit
>curved glass
>no mirrors in 2049
>ai waifu speaks broken english
lel
Also
>villain is completely and perfectly intact by the end with his only loss being his aide-de-camp and a hovercar
Normies and women thought it was too long, (see the comments some idiots are already posting in this thread) in reality I think it could be argued that it was better than the original (e.g. photography, special effects, sound effects, etc).
What's this stupid "curved glass" meme?
Basic retarded (You) farming method where le trolls pretend curved glass doesn’t exist. Started with an actual retard believing that
buy a pane of glass and bend it to form a curve, genius. watch what happens. and even if they did have curved glass in the future, why couldn't they make mirrors or have an ai that spoke english without sounding like she just snuck across the border?
Why do Europeans like such boring movies? Is it because they're pretentious faggots?
was it really good though?
Seemed watered down compared to the original.
Good movies don't bomb, sweetie. If it was actually good, it would have been successful.
This. I actually really liked it on my first watch but couldn't even make it through a second.
It's not a very good movie. It has interesting ideas but they're presented very poorly.
i only watch movies when alongside my gf and i really want to watch this movie but im pretty sure she'll find boring
fucking hell
Because the original did as well, it's a miracle this film even happened.
Literally too intelligent for modern audiences.
Why do men settle on mediocre GFs?
Because they invented cinema
end yourself you mental midget
People don’t actually like the original Blade Runner, they only like the concept of the original Blade Runner, or they think it’s the best movie ever and the sequel is just a cheesy cash grab. Sure this one has some faults, but so does the original, which is laden with Ridley Scott’s colossal autism
>if people like things I don't like they're pretentious
Because there's barely anything else.
anyone can do it with a drinking glass, try it with a corner office window. and you haven't addressed the point that they can make curved windows but they can't make mirrors, or the ai that can't speak english.
Boring movie
Great Aesthetic
Fake news
Gay frogs
Young audience's don't know or care about Blade Runner.
Audience's familiar with Blade Runner don't want to go see it knowing it'll be a mostly plot heavy film & less entertaining then most average films these days.
Like me desu. I saw the 1st one a few months before 2049 came out & mostly loved it but didn't want to see 2049 as I was worried it'd be worse then the original & kind of boring.
Saw it after & absolutely loved it. One of my favourite films, however I still think it's drawn out a little too much in places.
People don’t actually like the original Blade Runner
Speak for yourself
Next time, baby
It’s a dumb cliche snooze fest with 9.5/10 visuals
>the best films are silent ones
Sure user
because despite being an apparent cult classic barely anyone watched the original blade runner because its boring shit
Filmgoers do not want to see such dishonest flicks
Just like the original
SOURCE, faggot.
this is. imperative!!!
It was certainly good by today´s standards but honestly, it was an unneeded movie and not par with the best movies of first and second generation cyberpunk. (so it´s not THAT good even though it´s pretty good). That said i don´t think the quality of the movie had anything to do with it flopping. The original Blade Runner was also a commercial failure (albeit for different reasons).
I would say that the reason this underperformed is because cyberpunk is essentially dead. Making a sequel of a cyberpunk movie is the equivalent of people wearing Che Guevara t-shirts. The point of cyberpunk is to denounce the system so a sequel is on itself against the point. Punk is no longer socially relevant either.
Other than that, kids these days just don´t understand the iconicity of the cyberpunk aesthetics, for them is just "dark and edgy stuff". They just don´t get it. So, as both the message and the aesthetics mean nothing to today audiences it stands to reason that the film would flop.
Still, it is a good thing that it flopped. It´s one of those IPs that should not be disturbed to infinity becoming shittier and shittier just for money...
1. Zoomers never saw the original Blade Runner (because most zoomers have never seen a movie pre-2006)
2. The movie wasn't that good. BR is a fucking masterpiece. BR2049 was uninteresting and unnecessary.
BR is a forced meme. Tell me I'm wrong.
You're wrong
You're wrong.
>posts a rendering of 565 broome st

The film represents the hollowness of this modern society, 30 year millennials will relate. No real connections, only, digital dopamine hits.
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, it's just an ad for the space force or something. It's a pretty good show.
Because people view social alienation as something hideous and easily conquerable instead of as an art form
Damn, we live in a society
>wah it's boring
are there that many brainlets here or is it the same faggot over and over?

60 post 40 ips
a bunch of brainlets
It represents the loneliness of the digital hell we live in and normies don't want that.
Denis Villeneuve is a hack and his movie are so dishonest.
I would beat the shit out of you if you said that to me in real life.
Needed more super heroes
Because it was actually good and normies have no appreciation for art
Villain wasn't defeated at the end.
Boo.
I wanted the smug asshole to burn (he callously killed one of his own creations for fun).
Wtf spoilers
The original one bombed too, how is this even a question?
I rewatched it and it's slow as fuck. Everything has to be really slow to build the tension but that just makes it feel like torture. It's like watching every uninteresting docking scene from 2001: A space oddysey in succession. A good line would've balanced the tension without feeling slow.
>good movie
uhhh no
Oh god, you're that retard who thinks out of focus garbage cluttering the shot makes it good. I'm filtering your shitty image macro, and I urge you to use a trip so we can all filter the rest of your abhorrent shitposts.
Normies have low attention spans.
>sequel to a cult movie that flopped back then
>3 hours long
> slooooow
Yeah, I wonder too.
Has there ever been a sequel that's surpassed the original in every way?
the posters make it look like an YA adaptation
>wow a movie that came out in 2017 looks better than a movie in 1982
This. Both Blade Runner movies are fucking boring and the original would’ve been forgotten if not for the cool cyberpunk setting and atmosphere.
It sure does, huh. All thanks to the effects, they're out of this world and blow the antiquated practical effects of the original out of the water.
Every shot on the left is objectively better. Soul vs Soulless lol
That's wrong though, you cannot ever have true soul without the angel's touch of modern CGI.
They were clearly building up to a sequel, but since the movie flopped it won't be made.
>you can expect less blade runner 2049's
I thought the same, but the same director is working on Dune now so apparently he doesn't even give a fuck if his high budget epics flop.
Dark knight
Yeah but batman begins was not good in the first place
Dark Knight rises
Turns out catering to neets and peny pinching manchildren isn't profitable, who would have thought
>BR2049 was uninteresting and unnecessary
If they made digital gfs like in int film they would be bigger than apple
Her ethnicity was Cuban you dumb faggot. Why would you think she'd speak like white trash ameriburger
Are you so brain damaged that you literally cannot process a frame with more than single object in perfect focus
yikes
>Soulless
Meaningless insult.
I can't tell if he is trolling, I'm annoyed either way.
Imagine using boring to describe br2049 when 99% of blockbuster movies are capeshit that's almost as boring as is formulaic
It's massively overrated but the crowd shitting on it for being boring of all things are some of the most retarded zoomers there are
Zoomers have a disgusting taste and low intelligence.
260m is great for such a niche thinking man sci-fi, but obviously not for 150m budget.
Watch it alone you double nigger. It makes it better
both look great
