What is your favorite space opera? For me it is Babylon 5

I got on B5 too late and season 1 didn’t age well. I was always a Trek fan. But it had a good story.
For me it’s always been DS9

DS9 is just a blatant B5 rip off.

They’re similar in that they are on a space station but nothing like each other. They are both good in their own way but DS9 is better imo

sadly, you definitely need season 1. i rewatched the show a couple of years ago and there's too much set up in there. and a few episodes that are very good as well

The Narns were real opportunist pricks who sting their nose into any chance to obtain more territory and power, but all of that is due to Centauri fucking up their planet and society so they still kinda of victims here.

Well, they were painted as the bad guys in the beginning because they pretty much were just that - along side with being a giant red herring. They were abused and now they were expanding and abusing people back. Even somewhere around S4 most of them are still on the "fuck everyone" mode but at least at that point G'kar was more enlightened and just laughed it off when he realized that it was hopeless. Never ending cycle of bullshit and revenge.

The CGI is HORRIBLY dated for our modern eyes.
If you can stomach that, the rest is still awesome as ever and it´s early future proofing with the use of 16:9 format is a blessing.

Lots of potential under tons of interference by TNT. It wasn't just about the cure and later on it would have been a merging of B5 and Crusade with many returning cast members.

It's pretty much proto half life, just like G-man kidnaps people he finds useful

Too bad his actor was literally insane during season 1.

Yeah, it would have been a different show if he would have stayed on it. But it's pretty damn great that he held on for the full season because he knew that stopping the production would mean the end of the show and a lot of people out of work.

I liked how they brought him back later on for that two parter. It felt wholesome.

Just start with The Gathering (pilot movie) then watch the series. The rest is supplementary stuff that is better enjoyed after watching all 5 seasons.

The usuals really but probably SG1 would be at the top of the list followed Farscape and then ST:E (the only trek Ive watched completely).

Was also a fan of pic related for the longest time but kinda stopped when it wasnt on AXN anymore. Had the most inyourface Sony product placement at times but still cool.
