the movies did a lot of things better actually, but for me the main thing would be boromir, they gave actual depth to the character
sean bean was perfect as him and his death scene still gets to me

I can't do it bros. Not again.

if you’re gonna make the same thread every day, you could at least put some effort into changing it up a bit. You’re like a hair from calling it /lotr/ and by that point you’ve gone too far

the movie had better visuals and soundtrack
also better acting

Music. The music was brilliant.

ironically my music teacher hates the Howard shore’s compositions because he preferred the original composition that we actually performed as opposed to the new one for the movie. I think he was just being petty, the old one really isn’t that good

>Movies
They aren't "movies"; they're cinematic masterpieces.

based

Have sex

When pippen made me think about it logically.

I guarantee the Amazon TV show is going to be ruined by them casting niggers and shit skins. I’m sure there’s gonna be a ton of shoehorned social commentary as well.

>they're cinematic masterpieces.
They're masterpieces until the mumakils and the ghosts show up.

>be me
>talking to friends
>they say they watched the first lotr but it was too boring and nothing happened

If you’re referring to the *hits pipe* threads, that’s Merry, not Pippin.

Who are "we"? what "original composition? What does your music teacher have to do with LotR?
?

>and nothing happened
There were no Marvel quips or bad cgi fight scenes, what did you expect them to think of it?

They definitely deteriorate as the focus shifts from the characters to the battles (which is why "The Fellowship of the Ring" is my favourite one), but they're still better than 99 per cent of what's out there.

I hope you dropped them right then and there.
People like that should be tagged so you don't accidentally try and engage them in conversation.

my highschool band. This is what I’m talking about: youtu.be/H0DvOMdQFBE

Frogs and lotr are based. Libcuck. Go back to twatter

How did movie version have more depth? Book Boromir was also more sympathetic in the books especially his scene where he tries to take the ring, he really just wants to protect his people. In the movie he just kind of comes off as power-hungry like in the scene on the mountains.

He also gets great scenes like the horn of gondor stopping all the goblins and the balrog in their tracks, and charging the balrog.

I made one thread like this about 2 weeks ago and it died with no posts, have sex

Kill them.

your music teacher is a dumb boomer

The movies are garbage. Read the books instead.

The movies are great. Read the books too.

Galadriel's feet.

i just finished my third re-read
i think every time i've read them i've been amazed that in Fellowship they don't get to rivendell until 3/4 the way through the book
and even more amazed that the ring is destroyed half way through RotK,although the appendices pad out the later half a bit

reminder that the tom bombadil chapters while neat fuck the pacing up, would have been better if it was just one chapter and maybe didn't have the merry fuck in it just the old forest

>In the movie he just kind of comes off as power-hungry like in the scene on the mountains.
this the fact that it is ordinary to be corrupted by the ring and that it is pretty justifiable why everybody is, from their perspectives, is lost in the movies. The danger is that it seems like a good thing to do in the moment, like sin I guess.

movie Faramir is better

The books are bad, watch the movie instead

I don't like the movies because so much the spirit and Christian philosophy is cut out. One of my favorite moments is when Sam puts on the ring and is tempted. The danger of the ring is it convinces people that their greatest desires can be made true so when Sam puts it on the ring he's shown visions of him owning the greatest garden in the world with the best flowers and largest fruits because he is a gardener and that's what he loves doing. The reason he was able to resist is because he's so humble. He's perfectly happy owning a small one. I know this is just a small thing but the books are so much deeper.

I just read past where he puts on the ring he doesn't get a vision like that

yes he does, you’re reading the part right after Frodo is captured and Sam takes his ring off the “body” before they take him and the ring shows him visions which he rejects.

Except faces. Ted Nasmith's faces are horrific.

The Boromir scene. Also had good music and plenty of scenes of orcs getting their head chopped off instead of battles being only descriptive as "there was alot of noise" its nice to actually see the noise, I know its vapid but it makes battles feel more engaging when you see all the action play out, words just cant capture that, if there is anything movies can do that books cant is that they can do action scenes, and music accompaniment.

No way.

Pls no

The ghosts are in the book too bro. The ghost attack should have been shot at night, but I assume that would have cost absolutely shit tonnes to do.

that would work so well in the movie lol. the people obsessed with these books have such awful fucking taste

I've watched it all just recently and it's like I started watch then boom! I'm already 2 hours in.

this would be good if it wasnt for the boomer. Also why is the boomer an archer?

There's a lot of Gimli cutting off orc heads in TTT book when he has his murder contest with Legolas.

Was this in a book?

Makes sense for the elf to be the boomer.
>constantly reminisce about the good old days
>usually matched or superceded by the direct generation after, but are superior to the latest one
>piss off or seem mysterious to the younger generation that they're objectively better than
>live in comfy places
>have to deal with all their peers slowly dying or moving away
>know they're being replaced, but aren't yet ready to face the dying of the light

I don’t know about that. The Old Forest/Bombadil chapters give the hobbits their first real taste of danger and adventure prior to fully leaving the borders of the Shire.

I don't care what anyone says, the elves showing up at Helm's Deep was the best moment in the trilogy. Fuck Erkenbrand!
Also omitting the literal cavemen unga-bunga tribe that helps the Rohirrim get to Minas Tirith was the right choice.

I would be perfectly happy with a show in harad with the blue wizards, they can have as many niggers as they want without ruining existing works. You could even have nigger Teleri who got super tanned over thousands of years.

Lmao what a fucking loser. What are you, 14?

Book Faramir is a Mary Sue.

what do the mumakil eat?

>is there anything you think the movies did better?
Yeah they cut out (most) of the songs.

Absolutely nothing.

salted pork

>/lotr/
long overdue imho

This shit is cringe

Boromir was my favorite character after three movies.
Loved his character.

Tolkien's prose was a bit of a slog to get through.

>i can avoid audits if I wish, but to avoid taxes altogether is a rare gift

I watch the trilogy at least once every couple of weeks.
>inb4 have sex

movies had better sound track
books only had my inner voice, I hate my inner voice

nigga you are cringe
