THIS how could you not include Commando? It's PEAK 80's action. Absolute GOAT 80's action flick and definitely one of Arnold's best. Conan is just incredible (try watching it with Schwarzenegger and Millius' commentary track sometime it is GREAT).

Agreed on The Running Man, another absolutely prime example of superb 80's action.

I'm the only one on the board who doesn't like Predator. I always say the same thing, the first half tricks you into thinking the second half is good. if the Predator would have won, yes, it would be a good movie, but he lost for no god damn reason.

Total Recall and The Terminator are Arnie's best.

The movie has a ton of memorable quotes. It doesn't try to be smarter than it is. The cast of characters is expendable but charming. The Predator is a cool creature to face off with. The idea of Arnie not being an unstoppable force was different for the time. It's just generally a good, enjoyable 80's action flick starring the absolute best action star of the decade, and arguably ever.

Rob Ager really points it out, but compared to recent action films, Predator has really good cinematography that's well thought out, the tilting, the zoom, the movements, the focus and such. And the soundtrack fits the whole predator/jungle theme incredible, it's easy to forget how important the trumpeting, drumming is to build up certain scenes and echo feelings.

Like others have said, the characters are great, diverse, everyone has a special ability and such, and they are all pretty convincing at that, at least it fooled me as a kid and perhaps I'd view it different now, but the theatrical actions have a meaning other that looking cool. The script is witty, it has jokes, it has terrific pace but mixes it with both action and suspense, and its similar to alien in that one doesn't know what they have to deal with, making the audience imagine something, and that is what alien is, something unknown. Compare that to recent comic films and action movie, how often do you not know what the villian is?

And the effects were top, they still hold up today, the cameoflage, invisble dude looks better than almost anyone else, and the predator itself is imposing, extremely detailed, much better than Snoke from Star wars or the Enchantress from Suicide Squad.

I do agree though, with those that said the ending wasn't 100%, it would have better if Arnold also died, but then again that rarely happens in a hollywood movie.
