I love The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. So why do I dislike this show so much? Blue pill me on it

The first two seasons are excellent imo; season 3 is mostly great despite some shit episodes and season 4 is pretty meh with the exception of Metalhead. Idk, I can see why someone wouldn't like it or think it's overrated, but I guess I really loved it.

I think it comes down to the cultural differences between the US and UK and what the respective audiences are expecting out of a TV show.

In the US, the protagonist will have an obstacle put in their way, learn a lesson, and end the tale in a better position than when he started, often getting the treasure / girl / promotion etc as icing on the cake. It reflects American optimism that everything will be A-OK; that every bum on every corner is a temporarily embarrassed future millionaire.

In the UK, the protagonist will basically have his life ruined by forces outside of his control or comprehension, be punished way out of proportion to his crime, and end the tale having lost everything. Brits somehow find this amusing, or at least cathartic. It reflects fears that life and destiny is out of our control and could bite you at any time.

It's widely known that Americans are averse to bad endings in movies and TV shows. There's plenty of examples of films which have had to have the ending altered to a more positive one because American test audiences thought it was too bleak.

The dating app episode had a similar concept as well.

Moral and ending twist over actual plot and dialogues. A couple of episodes are alright so but most of them suck ass.

The show just looks like shit, like a mediocre evening tv drama, abnd aesthetic is important. Also it's noxious english miserablism by a depressive who can't see luife in its fuller scope so it lacks the spark or even moral authority that Twilight Zone has (if we're going to consider message in two shows that are trying to have them).

All of the premises sound pretty good when summed up in a sentence but the execution is always lacking. There's just not enough substance in those ideas for a full-hour episode.

They should've either trim down the running time to 20-30 min or make give each episode 2-3 parallel plots
