CLAUDIUS, YOU KILLED MY FATHA! BAD MOVE!

The kid, that annoying fucking kid

Ahead of it's time. Now people look back and see the trend movies had and how dumb they were, but people thought they were good. Like if someone made a movie satirizing marvel shit, people would feel triggered now.

>satirizing marvel shit, people would feel triggered now
I legitimately would allow cancer to riddle my body if it allowed normals to constantly acknowledge truths and not ignore them

You can't even really satirize them because they are basically comedies themselves. How do you parody films that don't even take themselves seriously?

Kid was great, only problem was how they wrote so many "IM IN A MOVIE" lines in the first half

>Golden ticket my ass McBain

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 16K)

It was popular enough for me and my neighbor to love the hell out of it. Also tricked us into thinking a golden ticket existed.

>Be the biggest fan of a certain film series
>Get the chance to go inside said film series
>Spends the whole time trying to convince everyone they aren't real instead of just enjoying himself or just acting smug
Fuck that kid

That's such a good poster.
Also, Chuck D. is based AF in this.

He was trying to open their eyes, it's not like movie realm was paradise, Slater was sick of all the violence before the kid even got there and he's happier at the end thanks to the kid

It's annoying, also his smug shit-eating attitude doesn't help.

Yeah was just appreciating the artwork there as well. Very comfortable.

YOU WANT TO BE A FARMER? HERE A COUPLE OF ACHERS
*EPIC NUT KICK*

>AHNULD in Shakespeare never ever
It gave me a taste of something I will never know again.

Attached: giphy.gif (320x238, 605K)

Be careful what you wish for, beliefs are no game

youtube.com/watch?v=wZ8EnaGClRs
SLATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER! *glass literally breaks"

Where was this man's Oscar?!?!

Parodies need to be funny.

>STAY THY HAND, FAIR PRINCE
WHO SAID I WAS FAIR?
>wilhelm scream

THAT'S WHY WE HAVE AREA CODES

...Take his shoes?

>That shot of Slater riding off into the California sun set
It was kind.

By being a satire.
As in, make a cape movie that takes itself incredibly serious but when it's quip time you go completely over the top. By exaggerating the two elements of the movie, you make a parody of them.
The Tick (comic and Cartoon) had the right idea. You need to play thinks at face value while pushing the envelope on how fucking dumb the entire situation is for the satire to work.

We didn't hate it - we *despised* it. Blame the studio for mishandling its production and release.
If they'd spent less money and scaled it back, and not hyped this as hard as they did, it would have broke even at the box and got cult-classic status on VHS / early DVD. Like 'Tropic Thunder'.
But the studio dumped too much money on this stupid parody and then they dumped even more money on its marketing. So it pissed us off before we even saw it, if we saw it (as I did).

i think a major part of it was a backlash against Arnold. he had a massive run from like 1987-1991, culminating in T2, and there was a sense in which he was overplayed and people wanted to take him down a peg. didn't Planet Hollywood launch around the same time?

I saw it when I was 8 years old and I thought it was boring. I estimate my IQ at 8 years old to be approximate to the average adult IQ. I'm 6'3" now and I love the movie

Attached: screenshot_IMG_243235.jpg (634x827, 379K)

Isnt it ironic? Like in a self aware meta thing about itself?

Yeah but I'm the kinda guy who wouldn't hesitate to hit a button that would scrub all life from the universe. Life is a blemish, but human life is a fucking blight

why do boomers like to pretend its some underrated classic because its "meta", even though they probably just recently saw it for the first time on netflix?

I admit I cried there. Like waving bye to my childhood and all those movies I grew up on.

It fucking sucked

It was too meta for the 90s. These days nobody would think twice, but the premise had a lot of really imaginative ideas. There'd be potential for a whole cinematic universe for the action-verse with occasional forays into the real world.

Jesus I'm an incel but you're like some kind of master incel

Proves how stupid the audience was then because the movie rips on exactly what you mention, including Maria Shriver busting Arnolds balls in the movie by telling him not to plug planet hollywood at rhe jack slater premiere

Marvel takes itself deadly serious. If you want to parody it just show realistic consequences. People huddled over the smoking corpses of their families screaming after a super hero battle while thor flirts with scarlet witch

it was practically a "scary movie" of the 90s
i liked me some naked gun, hot shots, police academy but people only tolerated airplane!

>ACHERS
You underage pleb! School sucks where you live, eh?

The real answer is Jurassic Park. The whole summer was marketing putting these two movies against each other, you had to pick one and only one. And Jurassic Park was the winner

It's funny how shit has changed, movies don't hold dominance for more than 2 weeks now. Endgame will come out and she shoved out of IMAX by Godzilla.

too arch
comedy fell flat
kid kind of unlikable
audiences wanted the real Arnold, not ironic Arnold

I would like this very much, and now that Disney owns everything all properties are open to the LAH extended universe

>Endgame comes out April 26th
>Godzilla comes out May 31st
That's over a fucking month apart, no shit it will be

BvS was a satire of both MCU and American society

Yeah, I forgot how late Godzilla comes out. Aladdin and Pikachu and JW3 come out between them. But then look after that, it's then Dark Phoenix then Toy Story then MIB then Hobbs then other shit like all summer. I think it's never about the ONE big movie, it's about getting something like AMC A-list so you can see everything and not spend a fortune.

arnie said it's because of the election of clinton, every media said the action era was over and they needed intellectual movies

>>Spends the whole time trying to convince everyone they aren't real instead of just enjoying himself or just acting smug
desu, I'd do that too

Could he have fucked a female cop if he somehow worked movie logic to his liking?

that kid was infinitely better than the kid in T2

Attached: 1402694263437.gif (500x502, 3.69M)

Because they were fags this movie had one of the best villains of all time.

It was a contrarian classic

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 9K)

Pretty much. People act like it's a groundbreaking movie that was "ahead of its time," but it just really wasn't that great of a movie. It's too long and bloated and the jokes aren't really that funny.

The kid didn't seem that bad at the time, but watching it again he's annoying. Like every line he says just makes you think "overly rehearsed child actor trying to hard."

I feel like Last Action Hero got enough praise over the years.

Loaded Weapon 1, however, is really underrated.

I watched this with my Chinese friend and she didn't realize it's a parody. To foreigners I guess that's what 90's action movies all seem like to them.

Well that and she has no soul so she can't enjoy it the proper way.

That movie sadly kind of disappeared over the years. Never really saw it on TV and it barely ever turns up on any streaming service.

It hasn't aged that great because it leans a little too heavily on spoofing late 80s/early 90s stuff. It would have worked better as more of just a straight up spoof instead of having parody scenes that hit you over the head like having Hannibal Lecter show up.

the beaver shot was pure gold.

I have never seen this movie, but I had an action figure of Arnold from it as a kid for some reason. I always made him fight the Terminator 2 figure I had of him.

I only remember the Megadeth song made for the movie lol

>Chinese friend and she didn't realize it's a parody
>make yourself at home
>takes pants off
Is your chinese friend stupid?

the soundtrack was great. I had the tie in cup with the cat on it.

He killed Mozart

I was a kid and loved it Schwarzeneggar was my hero

>stuck in a world with no idea how to get home
>no one believes you that you're from a different dimension
>don't try to test reality to prove their false existence

idk man...It wasn't R-rated, he could never have sex

It's a shitty fucking movie

Can't believe people are memeing this movie to be some kinda masterpiece

It was LITERALLY Ready Player One of the 90s.

normalfags are unable to think, they are animals going off base instincts and external stimulus.

Jfc user. Read MAD Magazine. Marvel is soulless Hollywood Jewshit. Look at Space Balls. But you'd need a gentile to direct bc Marvel is too heeby for them to understand all the nuances that must be exposed

Because it was Censored For Mommy Arnold, not T2 PewPew Arnuld which all kids had seen by then. Imagine if The Rock made Last Action Hero, while he's doing F&F. Which would kids wanna see?

Sadly LAH killed John McTiernan's career. Also the dog pyramid is one of the cringiest scenes in cinema history.

>the start where he drops a cigarette, pipe and cigar
golden way to start

Attached: 1546287392769.jpg (433x419, 97K)

It's too meta for brainlets to understand.

Marcy Darcy's bank backed this movie.
She would have orgasms describing how badly their investment failed.

youtube.com/watch?v=vYTPIdtA57E

How do you remember that lol? Must be the copious amounts of drugs I consumed...

Attached: 1554554736085.jpg (700x495, 209K)

>How do you remember that
my memory in general is total trash to where i can't remember what happened yesterday but random things like that stick in my mind for years

Fatigue.
After 20 years of action movies and 20 years of spoof movies they made the safest possible action spoof movie and put in a kid sidekick because that was done to death in the 90s, too.
It might not seem like a bad movie today - but boy were people fed up with this when it came out.
I wonder what the last action hero of capeshit is going to be.

Fuck off retard.

*tips fedora*

Obligatory.

I remember liking it as a kid

Ian Mckellen was great as 'Death'. His voice gave me AMSR before I even knew what it was.

ACRES YOU STUPID IGNORANT NIGGER

Kek

Came out the same week as Jurassic Park

Well, you know the rest

I watched Last Action Hero in the cinema back then.

Attached: 20190116_174518.jpg (2041x1600, 342K)

It was trying to be too clever and parodic, people didn't go to Arnie movies for that Also, 80s style action movies were passe by this point, and even its title suggests it was of a genre that was dead or becoming unpopular... not exactly the best way to sell itself.

>that convenience store opening scene

This is literally The Boys - youtube.com/watch?v=ziaimR9bY20

Best show of 2019 incoming

They'd never seen a parody before, or hadn't realized Spaceballs wasn't a sequel.

>girl is front and center
what

Those aren't The Boys in the picture.

Although your point is valid, The Boys does feature a girl in the team.

this is the plot of captain america: civil war

I love a modern big budget superhero parody

big budget just means more goes to advertising

The Boys show is coming out soon, if it’s anything like the comic it’ll be full of shit like that

Be careful what you wish for user
The last time some user wished for Halo to come to PC, we got Johnny Test reboot

It was caught up in gun grabbing media hype and it's toys didn't come with weapons and all sorts of stupid shit. So antiGun/action movie people were disgusted by the obvious exaggerated action and for some reason the PR pissed off the counter crowd aswell.

Vastly more importantly it released at the same time as Jurassic Park. That's the real reason.

Maybe in another dimension

That movie was great mang
