it was ok

Necessary? Yes
Good? ___

incels hate it

You gunna getta nono tip

It's pretty well done, and relevant. It's also pretty unpleasant as a viewing experience.

if you have nothing else to watch

It defined and forever exposed Brooklyn hipsterdom for the empty shitshow it is. The movie's an unironic tour de force.
Also, it might be generation-defining with respect to millennials.

It's pretty messed up desu.

>pretty messed up
>unpleasant as a viewing experience
in a good way or it's just awful

it's about gen x

youtube.com/watch?v=FKUrAXB5D74
>You know I'm a convicted rapist, right?
>Rape anything I can get my hands on. Alright?

Based and redpilled if I may say so myself

It's not really that messed up or awful, not like it's antichrist or salo. IDK what those guys are on about.
Mostly just awkward comedy and some morally questionable situations

Hard to say; I mean I wouldn't say it's fun, or funny, but movies can be interesting or compelling or satisfying to watch in other ways, even if they deal in unpleasantness. I think it qualifies as interesting and worthwhile to see at least once, but pretty harrowingly cringey.

It's very dry and sad.

Yeah, shit, you're probably right.

"No!"

Famous Anus

I'm just thinking of that one scene actually where he goes on a date.

I'd say it's about that liminal overlap at the cusp of the end of Gen X and beginning of Gen Y (older millennials)... the hipsters in NY and LA during the 00s, and in the case of some of these guys who were by the time this movie was filmed already at the end of their 30s or early 40s.

Not as good as his magnum opus "I am a Cuck"

its really funny but also sad. one of my favorites. too bad tim is a faggot now.

It has a nice score

It's really good. This user is on point. Don't know what the other people in this thread are on about -- if they think it's just le silly comedy or something then they're absolute plebs.

no

Yeah, it's really not a comedy, hardly even a black comedy. It's really just very dark.

Oodles of generation X and millennials are caught in irony cages. Particularly smart, middle/upper-middle class white dudes. The Comedy is about irony poisoning, DFW as presented by A24.
Really made me re-think some shit.

You forget it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen and it had me wanting more after the credits began rolling.

It shows how all that isn't even fun. Like here are trust fund NY hipsters running around being perpetual cool kids and it just seems completely empty and depressing and disconnected at this point, not to mention how utterly, pointlessly obnoxious they are.

ooooh so daaaaark

Attached: C2LOY4WKX5CYTA6JL3TMFMF6BQ.jpg (600x450, 35K)

Yep. It's a social cautionary tale, and the message is weirdly conscientious.

Although I will say I'm happy to say it's really not like that out there now, not at all to this extent. That smirking kind of hyperirony peaked and died in the 00s.

Now I want a movie about the pitfalls of New Sincerity.
Seeing aging hipsters going on moral crusades breaks my heart for some reason.

Or post-irony, whatever.

New Sincerity is thesis without antithesis. Plenty can go wrong with that

dafuq happened to artie's nose anyway

that's what happens when you snort everything you can get your hands on.

It's not really accurate though, it's way too exaggerated it's borderline like a cheesy 80's PSA but about being a hipster.
Tim is good at acting like the empty hipster doing irony, that's really the movie's only solid message. Sincerity is better than irony. But it's so retarded how far it goes, anyone I knew that had hipster attributes would never be as cruel as Heidecker in the movie. It's weird since everyone involved seems like a hipster, but the core message of the movie is boomer tier "these damn kids are crazy!!"

the comedy 2 will definitely explore how aging hipsters dropped irony and became carelord socialists

stop posting this

great movie about depression

>too bad tim is a faggot now.
His only success in my mind was the Tim & Eric show. It makes me wonder how much was really Eric.....

Attached: tim best guess.jpg (806x482, 63K)

great movie

i liked the comedy the same way i liked entertainment. both made me feel like i was dying for a good day or 2 afterwards. cant wait til i hit rock bottom and od

I really don't like Tim anymore but this was a pretty good movie.

Stop being a drama queen. These are movies by liberal faggots even though they are both fine. Talk to a fucking doctor or something if movies make you want to od, you're making up problems for yourself at that point.

It's kinda weird that Heidecker was in a movie that shat on his comedic style.

reminder tim niggerdecker literally killed 20 people during the electric sun festival and got away with it

How much does anyone even know about Eric?

We know more about Tim because of his social media presence. They just don't have the greatest comedic sensibilities and depended too much on decent editing for their awkward hipster humor to look alright. When they're on their own or doing shows that can't do a ton of cuts, then their humor goes to shit.

It absolutely not for everyone

Pretty great commentary on the insincerity and reliance on irony present among white hipsters.

Eric makes fancy pizzas and fucks bitches on yachts all day. For real.

watched it twice. first half is funny and then I never remember what happens after or how it ends. the point is he is an asshole cause his father was or something? i dunno who cares.

this movie has nothing to do with brookyln hipsterdom

Um yes it does you absolute retard. It's the premise of the whole movie.

dunno

how so

>We know more about Tim because of his social media presence.
Yes, and that is not necessarily

>They just don't have the greatest comedic sensibilities and depended too much on decent editing for their awkward hipster humor to look alright.
a good thing.

I don't know what to call the "Tim and Eric Awesome Show" other than Anti-humor and an odd "sitcom" all rolled into one. There really is nothing like it. I used to enjoy eating mushrooms once every year or so, and I can't tell you how hard that show made me laugh. I think part of it was being with people that had no fucking idea what was going to happen next. You would think to yourself "Are they laughing because it is funny, polite, or self reassuring?". Everyone I know of ended up watching all 6 seasons. Hell, I am cracking up right here right now thinking about some of the skits. The whole "Steve Mahanahan" deal is funny, and I don't care who you are. It is dark and sick, but hilarious.

The "Awesome movie" was shit. It was a 15 minute episode extended out to a full length film. Should have never been done. They could have made another season of the show with the better content from the movie.

This movie fucking ruined my swag I sweartogod. I was one of these love/hatable charismatic nihilistic shitbags and it got me so much pussy. Then I saw this and did some self reflection and now I'm just another timid little normie

I thought it was good but I couldn't relate to it.

>Hi! I'm Steve Mahanahan and I'm going to jaaAAAAaaiiIIiiiillllLLLll

based redemption user
smug irony is awful

Tim and Eric are both based idk what anyone says
Tom Goes To The Mayor is my favorite cartoon of all time since my shithole American town is much like Jefferton

>DVD commentary says the first cut was 6 hours
goddammit release the fucking footage already
probably because hipsters are the kind of people to flock to his comedy style and he got fucking sick of it

gimme some hip hip hop

it was definitely an interesting watch

also it had a fucking kino trailer

>hipster attributes

nah man you knew a couple of kids that listened to weird music, you did not know the actual demographic being represented here.

i live a stone's throw from NYC and know plenty of people just like Tim, with either old money or a job at daddy's hedge fund. that being said, that condition of being depressed, self hating, and spiritually bankrupt is really a common thread of the human condition and affects every age and social strata. its just more harrowing when you see it in people that "shouldn't" be like that

>Hobo dicks are cleaner than hospital scalpels
Loved this movie, someone post that scene where he talks about "slave skin" or I'll try and find it

youtube.com/watch?v=I4liwo6jHvI

> Oh Liza, Liza. Them slaves be workin' hawd out heah. Dyin' out there in, in the thousands. In de sun. Just keelin' over from de heat. From de HEAT-UH. Come on, now. Ain't it good, ain't it right, to see them die? How hawd dey work? For dis senpai'ly? Poppa use dem skin for makin' nice furniture. He tans 'em out dere, and makes a nice - that couch you on, in dere is all slave meat. Slave skin. As it should be. Lawd bless 'em. Slave penis and vagina. Come on, that's funny. I know you think that's funny. You ain't-your sense of humor ain't died. It's a good crop of slaves we have this year, innit? Real nice, nice bunch. I got to know 'em personally. Some of 'em, I know 'em by their first name!

>movies I've never seen because of the title and poster

its a fun watch, surprised to see a thread about the comedy bumping

if you like it you've gotta see Entertainment

I thought Entertainment was just miseryporn. It's legitimately unpleasant to watch.

Famous Anus

both very good movies.
both movies that you wouldnt recommend to anyone.

the level of misery is too high and you would look like a weirdo.

who cares? I think his opinions irl are fucking gay but that doesen't make say, on cinema any less funny, and that one is still ongoing
most people in the entertainment industry are hardcore liberals specifically because a more competitive capitalist economy would supposedly take money away from their industry, if everyone's personal opinions bothered me I'd have to stop watching pretty much anything

>I'd have to stop watching pretty much anything
You haven't gotten there yet?

This was a fucking kino segment, the music was pure aural kino
youtube.com/watch?v=1UEfLCv3ivI

should be required viewing to post here

Absolute kino scene
youtu.be/XzUVoisdfVw

i've never seen a film portray summer this real
not even talking about this scene in specific, the shitty hot city weather during the summer when there's absolutely nothing to do

not him but how can you be so completely spineless and insecure that you can't separate a person's opinions, political or not, from the work they create that you enjoy

it's like the most tiny-brain thing ever. "DUHHHHHHHH, HIM SAY HE NO LIKE DRUMPFFF.... ME NO WATCH NO MORE EVEN THOUGH ME WATCH HIM FOR 8 YEARS..."

I'm a Trump voter and enjoy his music. Its validating
