What movies do you physically own?
What movies do you physically own?
Hundreds of them, surely that's not your entire collection?
several
It is. I don’t watch a lot of movies honestly
The Dark Knight
Robin Hood (Russell Crowe)
The Expendables 1
All 5 Dirty Harry Movies
Napoleon Dynamite
Is this patrician?
None. I only pirate movies.
Why own DVDs in this day and age of streaming and easy downloads?
Blu-rays I could understand but all DVDs should be in the trash bin.
>Why own DVDs in this day and age of streaming and easy downloads?
Because
>Internet sucks in some parts of the country
>Physical copy isn't lost when wiping a computer
>Don't have to have internet access when I want to watch a movie
>Don't have to pay a streaming service monthly for a catalogue that adds and removes movies at will and can watch what I want
I torrent movies I can’t find on DVD or blue ray but due to hdd space and shitty encodes it will never be my first option. Same deal with CDs, there’s a guarantee of quality and actually physically owning it feels nice.
Ok not him but HOW can you watch a 480p dvd with the technology available today? I can hardly watch regular blu rays anymore after being spoiled by 4k.
Paying to temporarily rent a small selection of movies is crap when you can pay to permanently own the movies you want to see, and I've gone through dozens of hard drives in the last few decades, pirating stuff is a massive hassle even when you can find what you want. Buying movies also increases the chances of studios making more of what you want, if you pirate stuff you have no leg to stand on when Hollywood pumps out crap.
Televisions are better at upscaling than computer monitors, and physical media isn't compressed to make it quicker to download.

Even if I rip CDs and listen to them on my computer anyway, I control the quality I rip them at instead of just hoping to find them on p2p at an acceptable quality. In fact, I just bought an old CD single because I literally couldn't find it on a p2p network at ANY quality. Which is still more than what I can say for some tracks I've really liked that not only don't seem to exist on p2p but were only released on some 12" vinyl single back in 1995 that now cost like 80 bucks on discogs, I've had to resort to ripping the audio from youtube uploads
>Ok not him but HOW can you watch a 480p dvd with the technology available today?
Same reason Im able to watch vhs occasionally. The picture is good nough, as is the sound. So, I don't care. Ive gotten used to them. I get bluray typically, but Im not gonna replace a dvd copy of something with bluray
4k looks great don't get me wrong, but its not like not having it kills a movie
sums up Yea Forums, really
Personally I really don’t care about watching movies in the highest possible quality at home. I mean if I was loaded and had a fuckhuge home theater setup I could understand it but for my needs I don’t have to watch a movie in fucking 4K to enjoy the story and characters

I have a kino collection pleb. FIght me
Just a Kubrick box set and my old LotR extended DVDs from 13 years ago. Movies have so many copies, and it's easy to play them on any device. I'm not as worried about not being able to revisit one as I am about old games that require special hardware to work right.
I grew up with VHS blanks and constantly recording shit. I'm from the era and I want nothing to do with it ever again. Give me all my old favorite movies in 4k.
only the comedy by rick alverson. bought it in 2013. too bad tim is a fag now
>Give me all my old favorite movies in 4k.
I may upgrade someday. For now I don't worry about it too much. Spend more time on the web and reading than watching stuff so its not quite as impactful for me
>Troy
>*sucks teeth*
you aiight wite boi
I only got it to have the whole trilogy. On rewatch I honestly couldn’t believe how bad it was. The sheer drop in quality from episode I leaves you scratching your head wondering what the fuck happened at lucasfilm
Got this bad boy from cosco a few years ago. Pretty good movie.
Haha dude wash your hands! Yuck !!
I know this is a call back meme post but, MMFR sucked
Own around 300, a lot of them are on hajj disk that have eight movies on one DVD. Been awhile since I bought anything new though.
Monsieur Criterion collection over here
Star Wars sequels and documentaries about Siberia.
I only keep a certain amount of my films out on display in my living room, the rest are in a closet. I admit my tastes are a bit childish (t. Autismo).

Fuck, didn’t realize it would post sideways. That’s phoneposting for you. Anyway. Here’s my slowly-growing Pixar collection. I’ve been switching all of them from DVD to Blu-Ray collectors editions; I still have to switch “Up” and will get the blu-rays for the Toy Story series after TS4 comes out.

Nice rock.
Don’t really care for a lot of these movies but this seems like the kind of collection that would get you laid
Nice pixar haul
At this point you may as well just skip blu ray and go right for the 4k. Comes with the blu ray anyways and then you won't be buying the useless DVDs again.
I've got too many to list and my shelves are so cluttered with other stuff as well that I'd only shame myself trying to photograph them. The only shelves that don't have a bunch of toys in front of all the DVDs are the ones with anime and cartoons on them and I'd come off as a massive manchild if those were the only ones I took pictures of. I mean, I kind of am, but that's not the impression I want to give.
You already did. Now post your shit.
My camera is also broken - it works, but I have to keep the fucking battery cover shut with tape because it literally snapped off, and it's too much of a hassle to setup, and my phone camera has all the clarity of a fucking bigfoot sighting, so how about this picture of my Trek shelf I took for the /trek/ general?
I'm legit jelly

I have about 650 movies on DVD.

Nice. Invite me over and let's watch some film noir.
you should look into proper shelving for stuff like that
you have so much wasted space behind the movies
usually you would search for media storage or media shelves for units made for holding/displaying cd/movies/games
with that amount of movies id suggest a revolving type or a fridge type(with doors that open to reveal them)
you're being trolled
need to update it's gotten bigger
Gee whiz user you cracked the fucking case
Question for any anons in here who know their shit. I'm the same user who posted these two pictures above. After I've gotten through the Pixar films, I'm thinking of starting a collection of Studio Ghibli blu-rays next. However I'd prefer to track down as many of them as possible in a single visual set (same style covers) and I don't know if Ghibli has actually released their films in a universal style. I've seen the Hayao Miyazaki collection which includes a lot of them but not everything Ghibli, the Disney-released versions with gold covers which I think don't go through their newest films, etc. Is there a way to collect all (or as many as possible) of their movies in the same DVD/Blu-Ray art style, or are some of them just not released in those styles? I think "When Marnie Was There" falls into this problem, not sure which others do as well. Assume for the sake of this question that region codes don't matter.
I bought The Avengers in 2012. And I rewatched it maybe once with some girl. But Yea Forums opened my eyes on Whedon hackery and I throw that disc into trash.
Ask in the buyfag thread on Yea Forums. Do not comment negatively on their figurines and they can be very helpful with any japan related media.
