He thought the show was getting lame and wanted more money OR he was going to leave and try his luck in movies and other TV shows.

I don't think it worked well for him. He got a tiny part in Man Of Steel and now he's doing that weird show with the imaginary unicorn.

He was the primary reason to watch that show.Christopher Meloni has real stage presence and intensity. He made even shitty episodes watchable.

Happy is legitimately great.

This show was good when they focused on the police work, now it's all just about the private lives of the detectives or social issues. It's brutal.
