Like somebody had mentioned earlier I really like how much heart Shazam had in it. Freddie’s speech, when Billy finally finds his mom, and when the kids all come to “save” Billy, hell even the foster parents were such a warm lovable couple. It’s pretty damn nice to have a capeshit movie with a bit of soul again.

This. Honestly, everything else in the movie (including the action and the villain) ranged from bad to average. But the foster family and Levi's chemistry with Grazer made this such a soulful film. I even wish they had spent more time exploiting those relationships.

Man I really loved the foster parents. They aren't just some trash bags in it for free support money. They were foster children themselves and actually understand the struggle of growing up alone and never lashed out and were always understanding whenever the kids needed space. I actually felt kinda bad when Billy wasn't grateful for them in the beginning.

It's not even really a kids movie though. I'd say Ragnarok was way more of a kids movie than Shazam. Ragnarok was all around childish. Shazam was serious while dealing with teenager issues, it's not the same thing.
The movie was great which is all that counts. Also, using "kids movies" as an argument in itself is pretty stupid and basic because it just shows you don't care about the actual quality itself. Shazam had great writing, characters, and character development. Action scenes were great and the CGI was great for the budget they had.
